Need help identifying a couple of Civil War Token Varieties

lkeneficlkenefic Posts: 9,309 ✭✭✭✭✭

Hello Everyone... I've acquired a few Civil War Tokens but I don't have Fuld's book on identifying them. I think the "For Public Accommodation" is a Fuld 37/434a. The "Not One Cent" Indian Head is proving a bit more problematic... any direction would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance!

Fuld 37/434a (?)

    I don't have the Fuld book, but the second one appears to be F-69/369a. I have one like it. Sometimes there can be differences in the dies that will give it a different Fuld #. Someone with the book will still need to verify it.

    That's definitely closer than I've been able to get to... there are just so many varieties with the Indian Head motif and the "Not One Cent" logo that it's difficult to really pin down without the book. This one looks to be the same reverse die as the size of "ONE" and spacing is the same... The obverse is really close... star #7 on mine actually touches the head dress feather. Here is the Fuld variety you referenced. I've been using the NGC website... I'm super new to these. Thanks!

    @lkenefic
    The position of the star will surely make a difference in at least the obverse F#. Someone will come along that can positively identify it.

    I concur on your attribution of the first example.
    On the second: I've determined that the obverse is the 68A because it has 17 balls in the headband and the 9th star is over the 5th feather. The only two reverses listed for the 68A are the 371 in copper it's listed as R-3 in C-N it's listed as R-8. I can identify the 371 due to the O in NOT is directly above the N in ONE.

    I agree, the second obverse is 68A (or maybe 68).
    In addition to the star positions, the date is compact and level on the 68/68A, vs. spread out and curved on the 69.
