I know there is silver one this year.

Yep. And limited to a mere 6000.
There will also be enhanced uncirculated Morgan and Peace dollars this year.
This is one I will be interested in seeing. The ATS was lower than 6,000 the last I looked…maybe in the mid 4,000’s ?
Yeah. That would account for what they are giving in advance to the Big Boys.
What's the difference between this and the usual gold unc?
Enhanced finish. And the dual date and privy mark.
That said, the mintage is comparable to 2023, when prices were A LOT lower. 2024 and 2025 regular uncirculated versions sold less than 3K each.
Should be good, but whether or not it will be a home run is a huge TBD, given that the price will very likely be above $5500, and given all the other cool things being released this year.
If this is a one off finish for the series I wonder if that combined w the America 250 features will make it other than high priced bullion down the line.
Or, will this be the new finish for the series?
No, it's not a new finish for the series. It's special for this year. Just like dual dating and the privy mark.
And yes, that's the idea -- to make it something other than high priced bullion. Whether or not they will achieve their objective, at this price and mintage, and with all the other things coming down the pike this year, is the $64,000 question.
For comparison purposes, what other year(s) did they release an enhanced uncirculated gold eagle?
To my knowledge, never. The only EUs I know of to date have been silver.
They are going crazy this year for the 250th, and it is really getting to be a bit much. There is bound to be a dilution of demand at some point, given how much it is going to cost for collectors to keep up with everything this year.
high priced bullion
I must be confused.
I thought that all of the W UNC AGEs were of the same finish - not enhanced. Of all of these going back been enhanced?
I know about all the 250th stuff, but I don't recall prior years being enhanced unc.
Thanks for any clarification.
EU is new this year for this coin, probably won't be continued next year
You are correct. This year is different -- dual date, privy mark, enhanced finish.
Ok, then the line "it's not a new finish for the series" is what confused me.
As is often the case, your knowledge falls short. In 2017 for the 225th of the San Francisco Mint, there was an uncirculated 10 piece set. All normal circulating metal compositions.
Still one of my favorite sets of recent years.

I wonder how these will look next to a regular W UNC AGE.
How many of you are in for one of these?
What an absurdly expensive year for one to keep up with the "special" issues.
Not sure how any will do over time.
I like the privy on the AGEs and Gold Buffs. However, as noted prior, I think that it hugely takes away from the HR and 1804.
Great. Any gold in that set? If not, while my knowledge might have fallen short, it was sufficient to answer the question asked.
No other enhanced AGEs. I was obviously thinking about Eagles, since the question was about AGEs. But you are right, so thanks for adding to my body of knowledge.
Sorry for the confusion. All I meant by that is that is not going to be the finish going forward. This year only, and it hasn't been done before.
Same here. And quite affordable. Would definitely buy an annual EU set. Annually.
That's a huge TBD. You might be right. But, with only 6K, in a unique finish, with the privy and the dual date, it could be a winner. It also might get lost in the crowd of everything they are pushing out this year, and it might do nothing. As I said, TBD.
At what price? Because you wouldn't be seeing it at anything close to what you paid back then. Likely more than $100 a pop today.
They were $30 in 2017, don't go for more than $40 today, and you can be sure the Mint would want over $100 for them, based on what they are selling other base metal annual sets for. So just how many would you be in for?
Back to arguing just to argue about something.
Ok.
if this sells well enough, it won't be the last eu
Fast sell out. Bet your ass there will be offers to buy.
not at a 6,000 mintage
Exactly my concern about buying one - beyond the huge premium to spot and the ultra high price of spot.
Offers to buy would be most telling. I'd be very surprised if there are.
You’re underestimating numismatic greed.
I don't know, they sold about that many Buffs in the first week and I would argue that these are more popular.
Are we sure that the 6k limit isn't a holdover from previous year that they have yet to revise?
Kind of reminds me of when they minted the RP AGE back in 2006. There were around 10,000 of those minted. That was a special finish release too. It is kind of gimmicky to mint fewer, add a privy, change the finish, add a dual date... oh and yes, raise the price. I saw, on the mint website, the ad for the Gold Buffalo, they write: ONCE IN A LIFETIME !!! How can you resist?
ats: 5,850
Item Number: 26EH
Mintage Limit: 6,000
Product Limit: None
Household Order Limit: 1
Can never be sure, but the ATS number indicates 6K is real. It's more than 2x last year's sales, so there is no reason to doubt it, given the price.
Not really "gimmicky" when you consider that the vastly higher price from 20 years ago should result in less demand. 6K is actually very high for an uncirculated AGE given the premium they charge to near $5K per ounce gold and sales over the past few years, but they are being optimistic due to the EU finish and the 250th elements.
Good looking coin, from the Mint's Image Library......................
I don't see how that finish looks any different from the W UNC AGEs I have now. I realize that is not an actual picture, but it looks exactly the same as the ones I have in the regular UNC finish.
That's the problem with the Mint's artist renderings. The proof coins don't look proof, either. Go look at EU coins on eBay, you'll see the difference.

That's true. I have a few of the ESEs. They are great looking. Not sure what to do with this one. Thinking of selling a earlier Unc AGE and putting towards one of these. '
Does anyone have the mintage numbers for past W AGE UNCs handy?
I just got the below. What a bargain!
Dear Ronald
For collectors of modern U.S. gold, the upcoming 2026 1oz Burnished American Gold Eagle represents far more than another annual release.
Issued during the 20th Anniversary era of the American Eagle series, this collector-exclusive coin continues the tradition of one of the most admired designs in American numismatics—Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ iconic Liberty paired with the U.S. Mint’s elegant burnished finish. First introduced in 2006, the Burnished Gold Eagle program quickly became a favorite among collectors for its distinctive satin-like appearance and limited collector-focused production.
Unlike standard bullion issues, Burnished Gold Eagles are specially produced for collectors using carefully prepared planchets and dies, resulting in exceptional detail and depth.
We are now offering this highly anticipated release in two exclusive collectible versions:
NGC MS70 (perfect grade)
First Day of Issue designation
$7,995.00

Yes. Sales, not necessarily mintage. As you can see, they fell off a cliff as the price of gold rose, and as the premium the Mint charges rose as well. All of which tells us nothing about how this year's version will do, due to the unique finish, privy mark, etc.
All it says is that 6K is not crazy low. Particularly not in light of everything else coming out in the next few months. Doesn't mean this can't be a winner. Just means it won't be a slam dunk.
The fact that they are selling MS70 FDOIs at $8K tells you as much, since that designation is not available to the general public, 70s are not guaranteed if you do it yourself, and the price is far less than 2x issue price. IOW, don't try to do that at home.
Buy one if you want to add something unique to your collection. Not because you think you are going to have a big score buying one of these raw for around $5500.
2025 -- 2667
2024 -- 2996
2023 -- 6626
2022 -- 8900
2021 -- 9063
Thanks, NJC! Most appreciated!!
Do you know of any link for sales of the UNCs going all the way back to their introduction?
Yes. They publish a weekly sales report. You can search by product number, and find anything you are looking for.
Aren't these the same as Burnished finishes from previous years?
I ordered a few from the mint and they were alway the #EH product line.
No. This year's EHs, both silver and gold, are EU in honor of the 250th. Same product number, different finish.
You can tell this by reading the description of 26EH and comparing it to the description of any prior year EH.
