1996 D Lincoln penny DDO

I have a 1996 D Lincoln penny graded by ICCS at MS 66 that has the same doubling as the 1995 coin shown in the price chart on this site


but I don't see an entry for a 1996 DDO coin. Would my coin be valued approx. the same as the 1995 coin? I will post a photo of my 1996 coin.

    A 1996-D doubled die would be worth a lot more than the very common 1995. I don't see anything to suggest that yours is a legitimate doubled die. Would you post a photo of the slab

    I was told it meant Double Die Obverse but it could also be Dead Dog Outside or Drunk Dame Onboard if you are an Uber driver, endless possibilities here , lol.

    What would cause these letters to end up being struck the way they are? Liberty also has some deformed letters.

    and the Obverse is the front of the coin. the close was of the Reverse of the coin

    Although the subject coin doesn’t appear to be a doubled die, comparing it to a different date (1995) doubled die example doesn’t necessarily prove anything.

    I believe his point was that the OP should learn the difference between obverse and reverse.

    and the op brought up the 1995. i was simply giving the link to CF and the page showing the 95DDO to view

    Sometimes it is excess grease on the dies. Sometimes it is simple die fatigue from overuse. Sometimes it is minor die damage from use.

    I am getting off to a bad start here and want to apologize for making a mistake. I have all my coins labelled obverse for the head side and reverse for the tail side so don't know why I wrote without thinking. Just excited to get on here I guess. I am in Canada and have quite a few Canadian 1 cent coins and a few American pennies. I'm still interested to know how the lettering would get this deformed if anyone knows.

    i can't explain how "STATES" got that way. they don't looked mashed, but i see what you are talking about. they definitely don't stand as high as surrounding letters.

    considering they are made by the billions on high speed presses, i'll just call it poor quality control
