1971 S error?

Hi all, I tried to figure this one out but am new at this and it's confusing. The 1971 looks like the one is slanted and on top of a D or 0? Thanks for the help!

That's just damage, the last digit, which looks like it was a 0, was pushed sideways. This is pretty common, may have been done by a coin counting machine, vending machine or who knows what.

  • Wow thanks I never thought it was damage since I couldn't see anything else that didn't look right. Sorry for troubling you just trying to learn.

No problem asking questions if you learn from it.
We see that damage quite often.

Study the minting process before you look at any more coins.
