I did not know but it makes sense why they would mint them on such days in September. If I am correct the ship went down on September 12th 1857 which so the same day in 2001 was the last day for minting commemoratives.

Just got this book in the mail. It’s pretty neat! It’s really cool when the treasure is so famous you can find your coin in a published book.
