**Corbin Carroll**: a great combination of Speed & Power

Corbin Carroll hit his 44th career triple last night. To those not familiar with Carroll, you might say "Wow, that's a lot of triples for a 25-year-old player, but can he hit the long ball? Well, Carroll also hit his 83rd career homer last night. If Corbin played for the Mets or Dodgers or Yankees, he would be known as the greatest combination of speed and power since "fill-in-the-blanks". He's really fun to watch and root for.

Good to see the Cornball Carbuncle Fan Club is back for another season. ;)

Hell hath no fury like a Northside slump.

Elwhatever: I take it that you don't like my man Corbin. Who do you root for?

  • ElMagoStrikeZoneElMagoStrikeZone Posts: 1,766 ✭✭✭✭✭

Oh, I like your guy. Especially when he makes the Dodgers miserable. That's good. But, when he comes to Wrigley, I want him to be lethargic and disinterested. :)

OK, now I understand where you're coming from. BTW, you and I have one common wish -- let's make the Dodgers miserable this year! Their flashy payroll is not good for baseball.

PHOENIX -- — Zac Gallen outdueled two-time AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, Corbin Carroll homered and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Detroit Tigers 1-0 on Wednesday to sweep the three-game series.

Carroll homered to left-center in the first to give the D-backs a 1-0 lead. It was just the sixth homer the left-handed Skubal had ever allowed to a left-handed hitter.

Ma man Corbin is really fun to watch and root for.

Corbin Carroll hits grand slam in 8th in the Diamondbacks' 6-2 victory over the Blue Jays

Do any of you collect his cards? Seems destined for the HoF.

Yes Corbin the bold still plays as does Elly De La Cruz. Looks like those two are the genuine article.
Does PCA or Jackson Merrill still play?

What happened to Tatis and Witt?

    1 HR combined so far

Well Witt has 2 dingers but somewhere along the way he turned into
    Bobby Biancalana Jr.

Buddy just showed up one day and said “I am your father” and that instantly drained Bobby’s power and he’s been this way ever since then.

I must have missed Witts 2nd Dinger

    Tatis still hasn't hit one

I’ll tell you what’s wrong with Witt. Two years ago he would crush pitches center to inside of plate to left field. Mainly fastballs but breaking balls also. Whether it was a grounder, line drive, double in the gap or dinger. Now he doesn’t get as many of those pitches and when he does he doesn’t do anything with them. He sucks when he tries to hit to the opposite field this year. Many popups to second, first or short right field. Also he gets two strikes against him way too often. It’s always 0-2 or 1-2. He’s been doing decent about not striking out too often for today’s game but usually with two strikes he hits it weakly somewhere.
He needs to quit being so even tempered and get pissed at himself and declare war on the pitcher.
Show a little fire and get back to what was bringing him success.🤬😡

Arizona Diamondbacks star outfielder Corbin Carroll played his 500th career major league game on Wednesday afternoon, as the D-backs took down the New York Mets 7-2.

That 500th contest closed the door on a chapter of Carroll's career — one in which he sat alone atop an MLB leaderboard. Per the D-backs.TV broadcast, Carroll is the only player in MLB history to record 120 stolen bases, 80 home runs and 40 triples through his first 500 games.

I love how baseball comes up with the most baseball stats ever all the time. Throwing in the triples to make it a unique stat gave me a chuckle.

Laugh all you want fella -- my man Corbin Carroll is on the fast track to the HoF. Two more homers yesterday -- and he's a humble and likeable guy.

Im laughing that someone took the time to find that stat Mr Baseball style of leading the team in 9th inning doubles in the month of August, not at Carroll

Basebal21: I certainly understand what you're saying. However, Carroll's "500th contest" achievement fits perfectly with the title of this thread -- Corbin Carroll: a great combination of Speed & Power (and that's why I posted my recent comment).

Exactly. The triples makes it interesting. Eric Davis, for example, had 108 homers and 191 SB through his first 509 games.

Just in case you missed Corbin's "little-league home run" a couple days ago -- actually, it was ruled a triple with a throwing error which allowed Corbin to score. [That's a tough throwing error -- it hit Corbin in the head and bounced away -- the throw was obviously accurate -- tough error.]

We should be getting an update pretty soon from Charlie.

  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,630 ✭✭✭✭✭

I definitely think Carroll should be the starting right fielder in the all star game this year.

Carroll extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a run-scoring triple in the first inning and added another in the sixth to finish 4 for 4. He has eight triples this season and 51 in his career, one shy of Stephen Drew’s team record.
