I need a little help. Toned? Morgan dollar. Real or not and what to do

VetterVetter Posts: 984 ✭✭✭✭✭

I just picked up these 5 all the same date Morgans and was wondering if you think it’s natural or artificial toning. The luster is there but not showing in the pictures. Any suggestions on how to proceed (sending in for grading) would be greatly appreciated.
Also, sorry as my pictures don’t show the coins in the best possible representation as I suck at coin picture taking.

Personally i would get them graded, economy level.
I also think the toning is natural

Toning looks natural to me too. If I was going to grade any, I would probably only send the upper right and lower left ones. I think those have positive eye appeal and good colors on both sides, the others not as much. None of them are bad looking though.

They look like they were stored in paper envelopes for a long time.

Nice Morgans! Given the clash spikes off LIberty's neck and the eagle's wing, you might investigate whether you have some more desirable VAMs, e.g., VAM-1A1.

Looks MA/natural, however, unlike most of the replies I see almost terminal toning and zero eye appeal from these group photos. I would only submit if a desirable VAM and melt the rest, ymmv.

They look fine to me, but i don't see them popping enough to really have great eye appeal. I realize you say the images aren't good and I'm keeping that in mind.

I’m in the same boat. I would not grade them unless they look much better in hand or have a shot of grading 65. Anything below 65, and you would be unlikely to recoup grading fees vs selling raw.

Unless they look better in hand, a quick dip of one might be interesting. Not something I usually advocate, but these are generic and appear unattractive to me, not worth submitting if the photos are a good representation.

Due to the appearance of the toning, my guess is that they would not dip out well.

nt, don't dip, don't get graded by anacs... may as well not get them graded if you go anacs

Natural toning but not much eye appeal.
