Greetings to all,
I am sharing a 1858 Flying Eagle Cent from my collection. I noticed an unusual effect on the reverse, specifically around the letters of 'ONE CENT'.
The edges of the letters have a secondary outline that looks almost incised or scraped. Given the era of this coinage, I am curious if this is a recognized variety, Machine Doubling, or perhaps something related to the die state.
I would value your expert opinions and technical analysis on this piece. Thank you for your interest.
@WireStrike64 you should start a thread on your question. Your chances of an educated response will be better. I don't think you will get the info your looking for in this thread.
Good luck!

well…I suppose AI did their best to recreate this fictional error. A for effort!

Picked up this Colonial. Issues? Yes, but overall I like the detail and the look.
