Why double? Well this coin was first graded by PCGS and then by CACG.
I picked it up in the CACG slab (and did not submit either time).

So what grade do you think PCGS gave it and what did CACG give it?

    I can’t guess the grade of the specific service, I simply don’t have that expertise.

    But, I can tell you how I would grade it and why. As a general comment, I really like the coin. I like the single sided(obverse) toning with a very clean reverse. However, it looks like the toning is covering some quite major gashes on Miss Liberty’s cheek and neck, and a fair amount of chatter in the obverse fields. So I would give it a 62 if it were white, but I will give it a bump to 63 for the toning.

    Not sure what some of you are seeing, but this coin is nowhere near gem despite having some incredibly vivid color. I would venture a guess this was sitting in a 63 (no plus) at PCGS, and CACG bumped it down to a 61, maaaybe a 62 with no plus. It wouldn't actually surprise me if CACG even called it 58, but I think it's a low-end UNC.

    PCGS 62
    CACG 61

    Nice toning though. What would be your tack on for that above CPG?

    IMO it appears to have merits go 62 but would not be surprised if 61. It’s looks too beat up on the cheek (4 cuts looks like) to even get 62 - not sure it’s above 61 which is my wager. Way too many obv cheek hits. The reverse rather nice however. Would wager it’s about a $105 to $120 coin. Nice relatively clean reverse and toning obv could be card bump it up some above those numbers. . All subject to negation on the bourse.

    MS63
    MS63
    Both CAC and PCGS.
    Although, humbly- I think that is even with a color bump.

    And the reveal....

    PCGS MS 63 -> CACG MS 61

    I'm not sure why someone decided to cross or crack as the coin seemed appropriately graded at the 63 level in a nice PCGS anniversary slab. Maybe they wanted a photo and with PCGS TrueViews being less than ideal, opted to go the CACG route. The positive is that the photo turned out nice.

    Back to the grade, I think MS 63 is correct (perhaps one can say it's a 62 with a color bump to 63). I think MS 61 is harsh.

    Nice pick up! I was leaning toward 62 for the CACG grade. 61 does seem a bit stringent.
