Man, those are some real smooothies!
I once hosted a contest to see who could post the slickest "Slick Vickie" with a readable date. By "Slick Vickies", I mean worn-out British Young Head large pennies of Queen Victoria. Those things circulated from the 1860s well up until the late 1960s, so a lot of them got really slick. Funny thing is, the way the date was placed on the exergue, it was relatively protected, so even down into the Fair-02 grades, these things often still have readable dates. (Kind of the opposite of the Buffalo nickel and Standing Liberty quarter date-wear phenomenon.) Only the really slick ones are dateless.
Here's an example of what I refer to as a "Slick Vickie".
By way of comparison, here's what an UNC example would look like.

Found this metal detecting a while ago with it being slick. I still wonder if it was someone's pocket piece at one time? Anyway....
Cool find. Always fun to find Spanish silver.
I too found some really slick Spanish colonial 1/2-, 1- and 2-reales pieces like that, back in my detecting days. Considering those were mostly struck in the late 1700s and they circulated in the US until 1857, they had plenty of time to get well worn out in commerce. I've even heard some detectorists call them "razor blades", for the ones that literally got worn thin.
