PCGS -Fedex delivery problems-delay after delay- Anyone else have problems with Fedex delivery?

rec78rec78 Posts: 5,927 ✭✭✭✭✭

Every time PCGS sends my package by Fedex-there is a delay or two for a few days-is anyone else having this problem?
After my experiences- I no longer trust Fedex .
The tracking says "delivery exception-customer not available"-This is a lie. I have always been home when the package was supposedly attempted to be delivered.
Or "delivery exception-A request was made to change this delivery date"-not true-I never requested to change the delivery date Can PCGS use the PO to return my coins?

I don't know how many times they supposedly "try to deliver" before they send them back to PCGS.

I did a while ago and there delivery and what I paid for. I got a "I could careless" attitude, never went back 😕

I do everything I can to avoid having packages sent to me by FedEx.

They used to be the gold standard, but now, as often as not, the driver doesn't even come to our door, pretending they did; they don't leave a hang-tag, and we've been home all day waiting, but nobody came. Then we can't even change the next day's "delivery," because it's too late. And, yes, nobody gives a damn when I call to complain.

I typically will tell them ahead of time to just drop it off at a drop-off location, and I'll pick it up. It's annoying, but less annoying than "normal."

We live a bit in the boonies; my best guess is that if the driver doesn't have another package to deliver anywhere near us, they just blow us off.

I do not use fedex to mail -my complaint is that PCGS uses fedex and always delays my packages.

Each service seems to depend on regional or local competence. I read a lot of complaints about USPS, but they’re great in my part of Dallas. If I’ve noticed any delays along the way, they seem to occur on the East Coast with the USzPS. With FedEx, they have been a problem for me in the Seattle area. My default service is USPS. I’ve never had a problem with any service that did worse than try my patience.

I've had trouble with having FedEx deliveries going to the wrong address (same town & zip, same street number, same first three letters of street name). I've had to go to the other address to retrieve my stuff, sometimes from the folks there who took it in, sometimes porch-pirating my own stuff when no one was home. Edited to add: And once I waited near the other place and got the driver to give me my package without it going to the other house first.

Perhaps a similar situation is happening for you, and the other folks aren't home for the delivery. Ask FedEx where they think the delivery is going. I get regular email updates, which sometimes say where the deliveries are going.

I have had some issues with FedEx delivering to the street behind me. However, to be fair the people that live at the same house number have the same last name, and the street is also the same as my (and their) last name. So while annoying and inconvenient I can understand why FedEx has misdelivered there. Luckily as it has happened a few times my neighbors are aware and let me know when that happens.

Luckily as I have no confidence in PCGS (poor grading, horrible photos, and nonexistent CS) I do not submit to PCGS so none of my items that were misdelivered were coin related.

The key factor is the last mile or so -- my FedEx is awesome, my UPS sucks, and USPS falls in the middle (my regular courier is great but vacation or weekend replacements are very bad). And the only one of them that sends coins all over the place for me is USPS. They have a Barber quarter that made it to my post office then went back to the regional facility, went to a different city in a different state and now is finally back at the regional facility hopefully heading to my post office again.

I ordered tires from Walmart, shipped by FedEx.
The driver pulled up, brought out three tires, "sign here".
"Where's the other tire ?", I ask him....."It's the FedEx way", he tells me.......
    It never showed up.

I would not want any coins delivered by FedEx.

I guess I'm an outlier here, or maybe just lucky compared to others? No problems whatsoever w/FedEx deliveries.
I'm in a suburb of Denver, so I'm basically a hop-skip-jump from Newport Beach FWIW?

Over the last couple of years I've had easily more than 100 packages delivered w/o incident. All have shown up on schedule with the Express saver 2 day option, and all have been brought to the door for signature. The same can be said for USPS sig-packages. They all come to the door to be signed-off.

Over the last 5 weeks I've had 8 FedEx sig-packages delivered no problem. 6 were from PCGS and the others were from GC & CACG.
Of those 6 PC packages, 3 of them were delivered on SUNDAY. Impressive.

I worked briefly in a FedEx express warehouse and learned to never expect a package a day early. Drivers would check delivery due date and if not that day, they didn’t get loaded on the truck.
At least USPS will deliver packages if they arrive early.

Priority Mail Express is the only service level that has a specific delivery date and time. There's really no "early" or "late" for anything else.

Like every service things can happen from time to time. I've had packages get stuck in a Fedex black hole for a few weeks and finally emerge unscathed. How or why that happens I have no idea, but it's not like the USPS hasn't send my packages around the country on sight seeing trips unnecessarily either.

Please tell that to PCGS- I don't either, but this is how PCGS sends them.

They don't if you have a PO box.

Leave FedEx a one-star review. Corporations seem to be obsessed with reviews and surveys, so that is probably the best way to get their attention.

For me the solution has been to use their “Hold at Location “ service.
The package is held for me to pick up at a nearby hub thus eliminating driver delivery shenanigans.
For me the hub is 7 or 8 miles away but saves me from having to hang around the house waiting for a delivery driver.

My most recent FedEx experience was beyond amazing:
-- I dropped off the package at 1:55 p.m. Monday April 13 here in Idaho.
-- Recipient in California signed for it at 10:39 a.m. at his print & ship center the next day! :o

    When in doubt, don't.
