What's bewildering to me is why any team would invest this kind of money on a strictly pocket quarterback, with basically zero mobility and then provide him with a horrible pass blocking line.

Once you get to the playoffs, you are going to be facing defenses that can rush the quarterback and he's going to get hurried and sacked.

Cousins had a great arm and was very accurate. No quarterback can win while on his back.

I think you overate Cousins honestly, didn't he get benched in Atlanta for Penix?

Not sure why he was benched in Atlanta.

I was not a fan of getting him from Washington. I thought the money would be better spent on other positions and Keenum would be fine. Keenum didn't have much success after he left.

I watched every game he played in Minnesota. The guy hardly ever had a clean pocket. He was pretty bad the first year when he was under pressure, but got a lot better.

I hardly ever saw him miss an open receiver, something that drives me crazy. Completed a very high percentage of his passes and not too many INT's.

Our center and (usually) both guards were below average pass blockers during that time, and I constantly saw defenders get past them almost immediately. Kirk constantly wasn't "dropping back" to pass, but running back full speed to try to set up before getting destroyed. He was one tough guy.

I've been watching the Vikings since Joe Kapp and would say that Cousins was better than any quarterback we had except Tarkenton. That might not be saying much. But the guy was, and still is, underrated.

His main flaw was his inability to evade rushers, and often, especially early here in Minnesota, would kind of curl up in the fetal position a bit early as the defender was approaching.

I think I am rating him fairly.

Yes, he has been overpaid, just like almost every other QB or star player in the league.

Not too many Tom Brady's out there willing to take less than a maximum contract. Most players want every penny they can get.

They might as well have given him a billion dollar contract with $20 million. guaranteed and 2 years of team options at $490 Million and it would be the biggest contract ever. I saw the headlines and that didn’t make much sense and sure enough it’s smoke and mirrors.

Amazing how men will ruin their careers for such a little thing........

Mike Vrabel, NFL Insider Break Silence On Viral Photos, Affair Speculation

“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response,"

Vrabel, 50, and Russini, 43, both of whom are married with children, were seen at the Ambiente in Sedona, Arizona, a resort set along the Brins Mesa mountain range, in photos taken two weekends ago, which were shared by Page Six on Tuesday. A spy for Page Six told the outlet that the two had breakfast on the patio of the hotel's restaurant at around 10:30 a.m. on March 28 prior to the photos at the pool and side-by-side in a hot tub about an hour later.

The spy said Vrabel and Russini were again seen on the private rooftop only accessible from two-person bungalows that cost $2,160 per night. The photos show the two hugging during a sunset, as well as interlocking fingers as they stood face-to-face, with the spy claiming they were briefly dancing together.

I'm not going to judge him, his personal life is his own to manage

Even if it comes out that he had an affair it won't touch his career, a reporter is not a Patriots employee that was off limits to him

I don't judge him either - BUT, he is now going to have pressure on him from the press - not to mention his wife! I think the old line of "She's just a friend" went out the window - and if this leads to divorce or just a simple wife problem - he will be affected and may not be the same person as he was as a coach.

EDIT: The Michigan College Coach for example - ................

I dont understand it at all either. It is insane to me that you would blow up your family, severely impact your childrens lives and ruin your reputation. and for what? ultimately nothing. totally stupid and selfish.

and, of course he is lying when he says it was "completely innocent"

personally, i am not all that interested in players/coaches personal lives. I know that a lot of them are rich and weird. I am sure i would not have much in common with them and would probably not be hanging out with them in my free time. unless they are commiting crimes, it will not affect my "fandom" of them, but I really dont understand the life choices of some of these guys.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Honestly who gives a sh$t what he does in his personal life or what he does to it. He’s paid to coach, not be a saint.
NFL has mostly turned a blind eye for talent. The 5 or 6% of players who commit crimes and are gifted usually get a slap on the wrist from the judicial system and nfl.
And no I’m not suggesting any crime has been committed between coach and the reporter

Ummmm.........where to start..........Let's start here - I bet his wife and his kids give a sh$t. I bet the Media give a sh$t. I kinda think "The Athletic" gives a "sh$t cause she's not reporting anymore, I bet Her Hubby and kids give a sh$t because now they are involved in this mess...............I bet if I have more time I can think of a whole lot more people.........

Besides them. As a fan, are you worried about what anyone does in their private life? When I said who gives a sh$t, it’s from afar. They knew full well the consequences of their actions if discovered

I'll have to disagree - that is not the case when you are in the public eye. That is why companies have "infidelity clauses" in employment contracts with their high-ranking employees. Many companies don't want that 'black eye' plus if they are willing to cheat on their spouse what other activities are within reach?

  • bgrbgr Posts: 4,062 ✭✭✭✭✭

the reason is because people care about things that aren't any of their business so businesses have to respond by condemning it. we pretend to be offended and they pretend to care.

The reason people care is because it's plastered all over the news.............it's just like watching NASCAR for the wrecks or NHL for the fights..................other peoples misfortunes are interesting - plain and simple.

Using this reasoning, anyone in the "public eye" had better be a PERFECT human being. If they are willing to take home a pencil originally purchased by the employer, they might be embezzeling millions.

I think it's pathetic that people worry about other people's private lives, as long as it's not breaking any laws.

to steal bgr's word, pearl-clutching. people harp on stuff like this simply because it was a conspicuous act by a public figure. what all of those clutchers of pearls fail to realize is they probably run into at least a handful of people per day who are covertly doing the exact same thing.

imagine if we knew everything that goes on in the life of an NFL player or coach. and i mean every single thing. suddenly, everyone would become bored to tears with Vrabel's dalliance.

edit: i don't even think Russini is all that

I just cant undertand why high profile guys do stuff like this. I am a nobody in the grand scheme, and I will not have a female alone in my office with my door closed. I never want to give anyone any ammunition to say that i have done something like Vrabel apparently has done.

it just seems like a no brainer to me.
