Any speculation on this card..

I went to a Raleigh NC show in 2012. I picked up a 1976 Brett for $2. I had it graded by PSA and it came back psa 9 OC. Anyone have any clue what the FMV of this is? 10% of a real 9, maybe? 7's go for $150 - $175 for a decent centered on. But I feel like the 9 OC might be worth more than that. Maybe not as much as 8 though.

Qualifiers are generally the kiss of death. Without exception Id rather have a nice presenting 7 over a 9OC

pretty off centered left to right. Top to bottom is decent. But left to right is probably 95/5, maybe 90/10.

I totally agree but there are so few 1976 Topps Brett's in 9. NQ there is 33, with qualifier 36. No 10's.

Hard to tell with no picture, but I would think it would not have very good eye appeal.

So few people want OC cards now.

Without seeing it but looking at the rest of the sales of all grades w/ and w/o, it would be reasonable to hope to eventually get a sold price on ebay of $100 (before you account for associated fees deducted from that price). It would sell more quickly at $75 if you were in a hurry. The range of 7's varies incredibly widely, but you can get an extremely nice looking 7 for 120 or less if you're patient (uglier 7's sell for under 100 regularly), and almost everyone would prefer a good 7 NQ.

There are several examples of psa 9 oc sells on ebay. I guess the closest item I found that might mirror or come close to teh same type of card was a 1978 topps nolan ryan which sold for $800. a Psa 7 centered may go for $150. In my opinion teh 1976 brett is a tougher issue, but not by a ton.

The most recent sale I found on record for a 1976 Brett 9Q was a 9(PD) for $110.50 on August 21, 2025 (looks over-graded based on upper right corner though). In almost every case, I'd prefer the looks of a 9pd over a 9oc, especially when looking more closely and comparing the specific graded 1976 Topps Brett cards that have received either of these grades.

These 8pd's looked a little better than the 9pd due to its corner damage:

$82 on 2/11/25
$102.50 on 1/23/25
$34 on 5/1/24

The 1978T Ryan PSA 9(OC) sold for $760 by PSA as shown on eBay completed auctions. It took only 2 bidders, each placing a substantially high amount to push the price up to that level. I wouldn't consider it a common event with off-centered graded cards. The card itself is uggggglllllyyyyy. But, congrats to the winner.

Edit to add: The above referenced card sold for just over $200 in early February. Presumably, the winner then sent it to PSA on consignment which landed them a healthy upgrade in price. The opening bid for the card was $300, so the consignor didn't seem to have very high expectations. This is an example of what can happen if you roll the dice on a card and give it a try in the open market for a big fish to take the bait. In this case, it worked.

Ryan cards sell for insane amounts. I wouldn't use one of his cards to compare to anyone in his era.

You can easily get a perfectly centered PSA 7 that still has nice enough looking corners for a whole heck of a lot less than 350. Between eye-appeal and also being the same score on the registry as NQ with the -2 correction factor, is there actually anyone here who would purchase a 9OC instead of a 7, either if the 9oc is priced a lot higher, or, even if they are priced the same? I think there's enough sales data out there that shows 9Q's only sell when priced lower than 7NQ's.
