Snagged this cool error Lincoln cent recently

ElmerFusterpuckElmerFusterpuck Posts: 4,874 ✭✭✭✭✭

It's just a 5% off center error, but the color and it being a slightly better date got my attention. It's graded MS-65 BN.

Hey, any chance of normal date 2026 cents? Just curious.

From the U.S. Mint? I doubt it.

With the nickel through half dollar being dual date, seems like about zero chance. I would just like to see the mint step up a little and make them from 95% copper for the new prices though.

Because there are going to be genuine 2026 U.S. cents, it would probably not be legal for you know who to make 2026 cents of a different but similar design.

I would disagree. It would be clearly distinct from the genuine coin, also struck on a genuine coin of a different date, and marketed strictly as a token. If the 1964 Moonlight Peace dollars are legal I think this would be perfectly safe.
