This coin has a minor doubled die, which is common for 1972. The value is, at best, a couple bucks. It is not worth encapsulating.

How much do you think it's worth as is, ungraded?

How much do you think it's worth if graded?

How much do you think it would cost to get it graded?

Don't go any further until you can answer those three questions..

I maybe would get it graded. It is a nice, pretty coin and a DD, I think it could go 66RB. I would send it in on the cheapest tier

In other words, three out of four of you would agree?🤔😬

That's an important detail that would have been nice to include in your initial post.

I think you're wrong. It's not FS-104. However, my opinion does not matter. You should answer the questions asked earlier:

How much do you think it's worth as is, ungraded?

How much do you think it's worth if graded?

How much do you think it would cost to get it graded?

I use the $200 added value rule and that one isn’t close. I mainly just buy coins that have already been certified, let someone else take the risk.

The pics aren’t quite enough for me to determine whether or not this is indeed the FS-104 variety. But if it is, it’s worth sending in for grading.

Look at your coin closely and compare it to all of the varieties at http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDO 1972.htm
You can forget FS-101, 104, 106, 108, and 109 I think looking at your low resolution pictures. Focus on the following areas: IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, and the date. Each variety is somewhat different and the die rotation direction vary as well as which areas are affected. So look closely at each potential and compare it to your coin.

If you can make an EXACT match, then post a link to that specific variety and take some better pictures of those areas of your coin for us to view. It is not difficult, just takes a bit of work and precision in determining the matches.

The two big money coins are FS-101 and FS-104, so yours will have some value, but perhaps not enough to send for authentication. We'll see about that later.

any possible doubling aside, the fields are nice and clean but the devices are what's marked up. i'm in at 65 tops

If you want this in a slab with the variety information, this would be best sent to ANACS. I would keep it raw though.

Why would you post that? If you were serious, it was bad advice. And if you were joking, @Ballmrb might not know it (and it wasn’t funny).

I too was taken aback by this poor advice and then I noticed that member's handle.

Such poor advice that I am thinking this is an alt account for Mr1931s.

Just remember...the advice you receive on the site is worth every bit of what you paid for it.

    Her avatar appears honest.
I'm going with she is sincere, young, somewhat impressionable and a bit quick to anger when presented with information she doesn't like. Otherwise, she's charming and quite articulate.
I think she will have a long existence here on the PCGS boards and will be fruitful contributor.
I am looking forward to threads/posts and thoughts on all things numismatics.

Is it a DDR? Look at the split serif on the last T in "CENT".

I see a ding in the center of the crossbar. I don't see any splitting in any of the serifs.

There are too many sever marks for a 66. It's probably not even a 65, and that assumes that there's no rub I'm not seeing.

The two slashes in the face are enough to keep it at 65 or lower. And the ear is flat. And what's that hole above and behind the ear?

Not worth sending in as it is FS-107. The pimple on the lip is the marker as seen here:

Excellent call on that given the pics aren't great. Thought I saw something in the motto, but couldn't be sure.

I guess my poor attempt at humor was - poor. As far as sending it in, I wouldn’t.

    Many happy BST transactions
