Damaged envelop received at my office today .

PTVETTERPTVETTER Posts: 6,109 ✭✭✭✭✭

Someone from GA. sent cash in the mail. The envelop arrived damaged with tape on the one end. The person had a note in the envelop, sent cash and arrived with damage on the end and taped. We are sending his envelop with the note and the $2.00 left in it.

If it was damaged in the mail it should have been placed by the USPS in a special plastic or cardboard sleeve with a notation about it being damaged in the mail.

An envelope containing a note and $2 was damaged and taped back up.

    What's the problem?

Where are you sending it to?

Was the cash a $2 dollar bill?

The way the OP worded it, it sounded like there was a lot more money and only the note and $2 was left before the envelope was resealed. I may have misinterpreted it.

I don't think it's ever a good idea to send a lot of cash through the mail. Send a check or a postal money order instead.

For all that we know (so far) the envelope may have had $3 inside.

    No.
Rred believes the OP when he stated there was only $2.00 inside.
Why would he fib over this slight detail?
    (Answer: He wouldn't.)

Red is of the belief if the OP would send his PayPal credentials, I'm sure most of us here are empathetic enough and would pony up and send him the $16. (Or, $15.) he is "missing,"

I’m pretty sure the postman was hungry. A hamburger costs about $16, that is , if he got fries and a drink too. Be glad he didn’t leave a tip. You wouldn’t have gotten a dime.

I know everyone is going to scream theft and blame the post office. But let me tell you a story from last week.

I got a package returned to me from October. It was going to Canada but never got there as it was marked "undeliverable ". In the package, there were about 10 Phillipine banknotes.

As is coming practice, the "undeliverable" package was routed to the "dead letter office" where it was opened to make sure there was nothing hazardous. It was then readressed and returned to me with a note, similar to the OP.

For some reason, the package arrived at my door OPEN with the banknotes clearly visible. The PO had the package for 5 months and it was open some or most of the time. It went through the mall from the dead letter office to my house, totally open. And the contents were untouched.

Correct me if I am wrong but I pretty sure it was "undeliverable" because they did not know where "Canafa" was? :D

Hard to get a hamburger with gold coins also. But in both cases, you can sell them to a coin dealer on your way to McD

Here's a trick question. If you are in Detroit and you go straight south, what is the first foreign country that you will encounter? The correct answer is Canada but most people will say Mexico.

"55 cents, two coins, one is not a nickel..."

Answer for the general public: the other one is a nickel, plus a half dollar.

Only coin collectors would know the half dime option.
