Show dealer poster

logger7logger7 Posts: 9,515 ✭✭✭✭✭

I thought this was creative. "Pepsi Joe" who used to be a beverage driver and now is a show manager and show dealer has a little lady helping him at shows and they had this poster done.

I see this coin show is located at the Polish Community Center in Albany. Is that where we can go to polish our coins? 😂

I like it. Great artwork and cute poster. Should be a good promotion tool.

Red supposes this is somewhat accurate yet is dismayed at using a toddler to gain an audience.

I can see the good intentions. But in a hobby culture consisting of many creepy old men, this is an interesting choice. Perhaps my mind goes to the worst but this is a real issue in today's age.

No offense to the creepy old men who see this.

I don't hate saying this, that poster is AI. While the concept is cool, please support local artists.

Why? They got what they needed in a fraction of the time it would take to even find an artist willing to work with them, and at infinitely lower cost (presumably zero). The time and money saved can be reinvested in increased show promotion efforts.

Nothing is as expensive as free money.

I can’t believe your mind went immediately there. That is something that I never even considered. To me your comment is creepy. All I see is a dealer trying to get young people into the hobby.

There is a growing rejection of AI in creative circles to the extent that commercial enterprises using AI are losing business. No one wants a product that looks cheap in quality.

Supporting a local artist is very much the same as supporting a local farmer or, in terms of coins, your local dealer or B&M.

There is enough pushback when the U.S. Mint uses "clip art" in its designs. Imagine if they start using AI to design them.

Sure, but it’s a coin show poster and it looks pretty good. I highly doubt they will lose any business over it whatsoever (and if they do, it’ll still probably net out more favorably than finding and paying a local artist). But if anyone sees protesters outside the Polish Center in Albany, snap a photo and let us know.

You presented a convincing and winning argument. I now agree with you, using a toddler in promotional materials is not only fine, but an excellent idea.
On a side note, and for what it's worth, only your mind "went there".

I think it is a really great poster to promote their brand and get customers to their table which is vital for having a good show.

You're not going to find protestors outside of the show over a poster. There are plenty of graphic designers, even at the college or high school level, that will do the job. Some will do it for free just to have another project in their portfolio.

It's pretty easy to dismiss the issue of AI if your career hasn't been affected by it yet. Where we really need it is taking care of menial household chores or decoding coded messages like the unsolved Zodiac Killer's messages.
