No one is buying the gaslighting. Everyone knows what you meant.
I stopped buying gaslighting when electric lights were installed.
That said, I don't think the Captain meant it to be a threat.
Everyone who has been paying attention the last 2 years knows exactly what 8647 means, and it has only one meaning when you add the "47" to it. We used to all agree it's bad form to wish for political assassinations. If we were talking about anyone else, no one would be making excuses for it.
If I say 8647, then it means exactly what I said. You have zero right to:
Change my meaning to suit your own purposes or biases
Impinge on my free speech
It's a public forum, I'll say what I want about it and couldn't care less what you think. Words have meanings and everyone knows the meaning of 8647. Pretending like you think it has some other meaning makes you look foolish.

Hopefully the mods will ban Trump along with the Capt.
It will be interesting to see what our hosts think of individuals using their forum to make death threats against the President.
I think it's interesting that you think it's primary meaning is that threat...
Oxford English Dictionary, "86" is American slang originating around the 1930s to indicate an item is out of stock or, from the 1950s, to eject or refuse service to a person. It is commonly used as a verb (86'd) to mean discarding, getting rid of, or banning someone from a establishment.
Verb (86'd/86ing): To eject, remove, or throw something away.

Politics aside, that’s not what 86’ing someone means. It just means to kick someone out.
Agree.
The exact origins of "86" are somewhat murky, but it is widely believed to have emerged from soda fountain slang in the 1930s. Initially, it referred to items that were sold out, particularly in diners and soda fountains. For example, if a dish was no longer available, it would be marked as "86" on a blackboard to inform the waitstaff not to take any more orders for that item.
A popular anecdote claims that the term originated from Chumley's, a speakeasy in New York City, where police would instruct bartenders to "86" customers before a raid, meaning to usher them out the back door.
To "86" someone has always meant to me "to kick out" or "remove", as kick a patron out of a bar for being unruly.

Well, I was completely unaware of the “evolved” meaning of “86”. I looked it up on the internet and evidently it has taken on a more sinister meaning among some.
I still say “hook up” meaning “get together”, although my kids have informed me that that expression has changed radically. I don’t care.
I especially like the tidbit that Agent Maxwell Smart, "Agent 86," got his number from the slang usage!

I'll preface it by saying that I am the caretaker of my Grandpa's Purple Heart earned on Omaha Beach. Grandpa passed away almost 3 decades ago, he and I were close. I can tell you that he would've whole heartedly agreed with me on this...
There are certain people and certain iconography I would never display in my home, collect, or even show respect for.
That being said, I feel that the moment this coin is ejected from the press it will be junk silver and junk gold.
First time in history, I believe, that the U.S. mint will deliberately be minting junk silver/gold.
