Regardless of debate on appropriateness of a sitting president getting their coin, and while in office.....

Can we all agree it's terrible obverse design??

Yes it is. Love the Reverse but do not like the Obverse. Should be a side portrait like Washington.

I really like the eagle and bell... it seems awkward to me with the off-centered layout. There's so much open field space it make it look like something's missing.

Just another reason to consider the Box of 20 concept for Modern Commems... that is if one is considering collecting them.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

Good eye. Something is missing . The denomination and weight/fineness details are pending. ;)

The coin will be part of a “very limited production run,” Sullivan said, but the number has not been determined.

    They should do
    1776 mintage gold UNC
    2026 mintage Proof gold

This is close to the lowest mintages and would sell out in five minutes.

    Totally baseless and inappropriate accusation.

Is it a bannable offense? We'll find out. But in the meantime it will probably get the thread shut down. Nice going.

All this upheaval over a coin that very few will own because of the cost and that will ultimately just be lost in the crowd of all the other NCLT that the mint has been cranking out.

My god some people are whiny little snowflakes.

    "Totally baseless"

    LMFAO

To me, the figure on the coin looks like the President in the movie Superman 2.

Ran your Iranian gold coin through ChatGPT...

  • blitzdudeblitzdude Posts: 7,565 ✭✭✭✭✭

I wouldn't put that coin in my collection even if we used your money to purchase it. For the record the Iranian example is much nicer. SEMPR! and RGDS!

The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

That'd be a BIG FAT NO!!! (I mean I would never get one. :s )

Saw that on the news recently.
I thought I heard there cant be a living person on a coin ("Nolan Ryan" supposedly on an Olympic silver $, I have 1 or 2).
But now I hear they just havent had a sitting president on a coin since Coolidge.

Will probably be a 2.5 oz gold piece, too $$$$$ for the masses, affordable for the 1%. I hope it goes over like the Melania "fillem". :D:p

Calvin Coolidge. Ethel Kennedy. The Alabama governor Kilby. There is no such ban on living people on coins.

[Not saying it's a good or bad idea. It's just neither a first nor illegal. ]

Eunice Kennedy Shriver was on the 1995-W Special Olympics commemorative silver dollar and she was still alive at the time it was issued.

    You're right, Eunice not Ethel

Isn’t that the medal? It wouldn’t have a denomination on it

The editorial pages of 1926 also took issue with Coolidge being on the coin.

I wonder who drew that? It looks a little like Krazy Kat. Kinda Herrimanesque. I wonder if the horse was beaned with a brick by a mouse?

  • Who in the Federal government will tell Don NO? He will get it approved and minted, but you can count me out.

That was the original joke. Barnum is on the Bridgeport Half Dollar who he was subtly referring to.
