U.S. Grant token or medal?

This is not my area of expertise to say the least but I would appreciate any insight on this Grant piece. Not sure if it’s a token, medal or just junk. Looks original and interesting! Thanks in advance.

    USG 1868-35. Not super rare, but not one of the super common ones either.

    The condition isn't great. I wouldn't call it junk though. Small double digits value, maybe $20-30 in that condition?

    I have never seen this piece.
