$20 - 1870 Minting place ?

Hello,
Last week I posted regarding a $20 - 1870 with a strange date.
In the same auction sale to come I have seen another peculiar $20 - 1872 gold coin but the minting place is indetermined ?

As you can see on the pics here below, the mark looks like a "2"
I used a software to try to remove the blur on the minting place mark on the last picture.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Agree
In 1870, the $20.00 gold coin was minted in three mints.
Philadelphia, San Francisco and Carson City. Yours was minted in SF.

On the 1872 G$20, the mintmark may not be clear if it was hit by a contact mark from another coin.

  • I had a doubt. So, it is clear now.
    Thanks a lot.

Process of elimination. It's either S or CC.

It looks like a single letter so it must be an S.
