That's a great question. I know there is no back log in China, but that is state driven!

    .

No, it has not been "increasing". It has been fluctuating (up and down) with the paper silver price.

The discount on 90% silver coin increased when the paper silver price increased rapidly.
The discount on 90% silver coin diminished when the paper silver price dropped rapidly.
It has always been that way, including 1980. Nothing new here.

The paper price of silver is always more volatile than the physical silver price.

If a market existed outside of selling to refineries, the capacity of domestic refiners would be irrelevant. Dealers are offering discounts because sellers outnumber buyers.

Yes, exactly. And the discount has been increasing.

the junk silver market (40-90%) is not the silver market. supply/demand (and therefore prices) differ for each. so when your discusion adresses junk silver, say so. otherwise any discussion here is assumed to concern .999 or better silver. note that bullion dealers resell a lot of the junk silver that they buy. the smelter is a small part of the silver market supply equation and their inability to accept/melt junk has nothing to do with demand and everything to do with lease rates. quality silver is easily re-sold when prices are rising, and as always, held by sellers while prices temporarily drop

When gold and silver move together, it signals the coming end of fiat money.

not true when discussing demand, supply, and prices of silver. just as sterling/flatware is not a reflection of the real silver market, 40-90% is a discssion of its own

P.S. Last Green box I recently sold the dealer confirmed to me that it was going straight to Jack Hunt who is paying $2.00 over on ASE's. Far from the +10% that you claim. I guess the dealer is dumb for selling to Jack at $2 over when he could have been getting +10% over from all that demand coming through his front door? What a joke.

.999 generic rounds discounts increased from -2 (or more) to -4 (or more).

    LOL.

Funny thing is you chastised me for intimating that I was talking about a specific type of silver --90%-- (when I never said that), but you then you go and use a specific type of silver for your point. So now I'll chose a specific type. And around we go.

junk silver and .999 are different products and are priced differently

dealer buy prices and dealer sell prices are two different prices. for those who can't see through their own fog, ASE dealer sell prices are currently 10+%. and yes their buy price will be lower because they are in business to make a profit

"Retail is currently selling ASEs at spot +10%" (I find this to be true)

"WELL ACTUALLY... my dealer is wholesaling it to a guy who buys monster boxes or solid tubes wholesale for +$2/$3, so you're wrong"

This is disingenuous at best and you know better, unless you're dealing in monster boxes and don't understand retail/wholesale dynamics...

Scotsman is buying AGEs @ spot -0.6%, and selling them @ spot +7.8% in quantity. An 8.4% spread.

They are buying 90% silver @ spot -18.1% and selling it @ -8.0% in quantity. A 10.1% spread.

Given the current volatility, these spreads don't seem outrageous even though they are 3X higher than "normal".

At $94 silver, a move of $9.40 is required to cover the current spread. This might be the new normal and a move of $10 in a day isn't out of the realm of possibility.

    Buckle up.

Correction, I meant to type ASEs instead of AGEs.

The fundamentals for silver are more interesting than for gold, although both metals still look very promising.

The fact that blitzie can't figure out how to navigate the silver market isn't my issue. Carry on.

Silver Eagle rolls are recently selling on eBay for about $104 to $105 per coin.
With paper "spot" at about $94, that is a +$10 premium.

Not a well thought out comment. There are levels of "quality" or ratings in every market in the world that affect their liquidity and market value......currencies, stocks, bonds, cars, houses, PMs, Beanie Babies, Sports Cards, and yes, even in Coins: PCGS, NGC, CACG, green stickers, + or *, etc. If there were no level of qualities, there probably wouldn't even be a World. Yes indeed, we "split hairs" in every market in the world. Quality and knowledge rule. Even "paper silver" has levels of quality with varying buy/sell spreads.

That is a lie. Speak for yourself, not the "many" others that you don't even know.
Nobody else (except perhaps blitzeddude) has ever indicated that they find "hypocrisy" on this forum, and that it is "entertaining". One or two is not "many". But not even you think it is actually "entertaining". You may posture it that way, but you seem to be actually afraid of (not entertained by) what is opined here.

Your above post is nothing but hypocrisy.

Now, would you like to comment on the topic or just continue with your incessant personal attacks?

    .

It can't be a "personal" attack when the target is an anonymous forum alias.
And it isn't an "attack". It is a rebuke of your claim to speak for "many" others.

    .

The coin dealer in Minot who does youtube interviews and had been mentioned in this forum previously also must be a liar since he said "nobody, well hardly anybody wants it", Video posted yesterday. Check it out yourself. So yes, "many" folk are saying the same thing as evidenced by their lack of buying.

Serious question for dcarr, are you ok?

Here's the video, because I know you have challenges.

Cripes, now we are going to split hairs over all the different forums of gutter metal and who may or may not want to buy it? The paper gutter trades at the advertised price either buy or sell. The physical trash not so much! RGDS!!

"Nobody wants it" is a lie.
A truthful statement would be "nobody that he knows wants silver at his price".
Obviously, somebody does want silver, otherwise the price wouldn't be well above $40.

You made the similar false statement that "many" people find entertaining hypocrisy in this forum.
Prove that your statement is not a lie. Show evidence of these "many" people stating as such.

Your question is not at all "serious".

    he sure did

he also said there are different qualities of silver that sell at different premiums. the reason premiums are lower for less than .999 is that there is a cost to turn it into ,999

any .999 that goes to the smelter is not being removed frm the market, it is simply being converted into "good delivery bars."

When gold and silver move together, it signals the coming end of fiat money.

    The increased volatility is alarming

If retail stays soft I don't think industrial can hold the price point.

In other words there will need to be more perceived value as a store of value to keep interest/current pricing. That will mean a correction is necessary. $80 is not a real correction. Paper is too treacherous to rely on foundational market price stability.

    Thoughts?

Gawsh. You better hurry up and sell your 90% at a gain while you can. The fact that you don't do that is proof that you are blowing smoke and have zero credibility.

Predictions are always Fool's Gold....but I think that price is too low.

The level of the breakout would represent a logical worst-case for me....figure low-to-mid $30's. And the fact that silver is holding MOST of the 2025 gains and just loosing the early-2026 blowoff top, the last $30 or so, is impressive.
