There's a raging snowstorm outside today. I thought I would start a thread on new Morgan purchases. Morgan collectors are always making new purchases.
I purchased two new Morgans recently.
One is on the way but I have one here to show.

Low cert #

How can you tell when a rattler is a low number?

It is a low 7 digit number 1102279
According to the PCGS slab generation reference (OldSlabHolders), the specifics are:
Generation 1.0 (White Label, very early):
Used in early February 1986.
Features a smooth white label and crude dot-matrix printing.
Serial numbers began at approximately 1080001, with about 1,000 slabs originally produced.
Generation 1.1 (White Label, improved):
Used for about one week in February 1986.
Still a white label but with improved dot-matrix printing.
Serial numbers reportedly go up to around 1082378, with approximately 1,400 originally produced.
A common date 1881-S PCGS ms63 Morgan Dollar in white label just sold for $119062.

This is my newest one:

New additions, and currently the only graded Morgans in my collection. The 1900 O is in my 20th century type set, and the 1921 was an impulse buy.
Newbie collector of type and circulated Peace dollars, photographer of places and animals, player of instruments and builder of amplifiers, espresso industry professional, and a person distracted by shiny objects. https://mycollect.com/Rule556/sets
This dealer had six different years to choose from and all the same grade. This one looked the best so I brought her home.
I just got this today. I won't be the guy battling it out with the toning aficionados. I have quite a few of these now. I have always contemplated a date set. I'll probably hang out in the 63-64 range and see how far I can get with that plan.
