US Mint Shipping Policy

I haven't purchased from the U.S. Mint before. I just noticed the attached in their shipping policy. For those who have ordered before, is it possible to purchase some kind of insurance, perhaps at time of check-out? Or do you just take the risk that the package might be lost in transit?

The only risk to you is if something is lost that is sold out and can’t be replaced. Otherwise you will be made whole.

I've bought mint products since the 1970's and never had an issue, so it is a risk that I don't have any issue accepting.

Thanks. Other people on this forum have reported packages lost or stolen when in the possession of USPS. And it's probably pretty clear to USPS (and other carriers) that packages coming from the US Mint probably have coins inside them. So I guess you're saying the risk is small enough to not be too concerned about it.

Any order that exceeds $600 will be signature required. Even if you select budget shipping, it's automatically upgraded without charge for signature service...

Hey thanks, didn't know that -- need to leave my front gate open for USPS when there is a signature required, it's been too long since I got all those old gold set -- my wife must have signed for them back long before I retired and we move to a large property.

I think my 24K 2025W SAQ arrived via UPS & siggy required.
I opted for overnight delivery which was well worth $21.95 fee.
But that was not a subscription, instead it was a purchase

Also a heads-up, if you return just one of the items on that $600+ order due to quality (or an item in the order is on Backorder), and that one item is only worth $175, they still honor the original signature service by default at no extra charge...

I've decided to get one of the 2026 1/4-ounce proof AGE coins that go on sale next week. I have no idea how quickly (or slowly) they will sell out, so to be ready, today I set up an account on the U.S. Mint website. I thought I might be able to "subscribe" to that coin specifically, but I see no way to do that. So I guess I'll have to sign in to the website a few minutes before 12 noon EST on March 5, and hope for the best. Sound right?

Yes, but get logged in 20-30 minutes ahead of noon and on the 1/4 oz page, as it will be packed. You'll be placed in their virtual waiting room. Whatever you do - do NOT refresh while in the waiting room, or you'll lose your place in line.

I don't see the 1/4 oz selling out too quickly? But the 1/10 oz will be of FIRE, imo.

For what it's worth, I've been ordering from the mint for several years w/o issue. The package actually comes from the " fulfillment center " No mention of the mint on the package.

don't expect the usps or any delivery service to get a signature even if it is required
