Lemme tell ya Brent...both teams are gonna have to establish their Powerful Running Game early as the Rams have been playing Outstanding at home; though you have to Be Careful with that Steel Curtain Defense, I'm picking the Rams but not by much...ππ

Hopefully, Jimmy won't say anything that gets himself fired. LOL
Do you collect by default if Henley misses the cut or do both golfers have to play it out?
Either way good luck.
if Hideki makes the cut and Henley doesn't, it's a winner after 36 holes. if they both miss, lowest score wins
good luck with your plays as well
I was wondering precisely about all that as well.
I haven't checked yet to see if my book offers this bet. If they do, I may put a nickel on it. Hideki has been very consistent, and if Henley beats him, then he beats him. But in any event, it seems like a good value in my opinion.
@stevek Henley is a good player, but Hideki has been in great form and has a solid history at this tournament. he won back in 2024...............the last time it was played on this track (it was moved to another course last year due to the fires).
@perkdog your book may have different matchups than mine. also, be aware that they have round by round bets, as well ones for the entire tournament. the bet you posted above is only for the first round.
Hideki is +2000 to win the tourney
Henley is +3500 to win the tourney
Based on that, it seems to me that Galaxy's -122 play on Hideki is a pretty good value.
"72 Hole Matchbet Xander Schauffele vs Hideki Matsuyama" (Hideki -110) is the only one at my book offered with Hideki. Only 15 offered in total on every player.
"72 Hole Matchbet Rory McIlroy vs Scottie Scheffler" (Scottie at -300) looks a bit interesting.
i think my bet is dead. Matsuyama has been having major issues with his big stick for the past few weeks, but his sublime iron play & short game has been bailing him out. i thought he would get it straightened out, but through 5 holes he is still spraying the ball all over the place and has yet to hit a fairway. in fact, he just hit a provisional on #5 before play was halted. could be a big number once things get restarted. he better figure things out and fast for my sake (and hopefully no one else's).
As I report this. Scottie is tied for last place,5 over. 11 strokes behind. He is doing it again for 3rd Thursday in a row to open the tourney in the hole.
And right on cue my top 10/20 play last week with Coody that tanked, he currently sits 5th. Still early though.

Sure as yell glad I didn't play it. LOL
i came about as close as one could to sticking 100 on Rory against Scottie without actually doing so. there was too much value at +222. ultimately talked myself out of it, very unfortunately.
Scheffler is capable of otherworldly things, but spotting Rory that many strokes after round 1 is a tough ask for anyone
good news is that Hideki corrected a problematic situation and ended up 2-under......which i'll happily take based on how he started his round
have no idea what's going on with him in the beginning of tournaments in the past month or so, but it just goes to show that there's even unpredictability attached to the most predictable golfer on the planet

Kind of reminds me of a racehorse that gets out of the gate slowly at the start of a race. They close ground during the race, but seldom win. Gave up too much ground at the beginning.

it has taken me forever, but i finally figured out a surefire way to win a bet. the moment play commences, immediately say you're screwed.
joking aside, i really thought i was in big trouble from the jump. my guy Hideki had been playing well for weeks, but he had suddenly run into signicant issues with the big stick. on Thurs he missed his first 4 fairways and was 1-over. on his 5th hole he sprayed another and had to hit a provisional ball. if someone here isn't familiar with what a provisional is and would like to know, it's where you hit a second ball because there's a chance of your first shot never being found. after he did that, play was halted due to the weather and thats when i made the post i did. if his first ball had been deemed lost, he was staring at a double or triple. that would have been a very deep hole to get out of. luckily, he found his first drive when play started back up, and he straightened his driver out. he didnt play well today, but he played well enough to make the cut, which is all i needed him to do seeing as Henley was sent packing for the weekend.
i'm not going to get greedy, but i just need to do that about 65 more times
as for when it will be graded, my book will do a lot of nice things for you if you lose a lot of π°. suffice to say they are sooo good to me. π
now i can root on Xander, Hovland and Theegala (bluejay's picks). who knows, i might get drunk tonight and toss in a weekend bet. πΊ
Xman missed an easy birdie earlier. Could of used that. Hovland play is out for top 10. Need Xman and Theegala for a profit. Either one solo cash will break even. Still think Rory will check in 2nd. Has never won this event.

Still haven't finalized my play. Toying with idea of Hovland,Xander. About time they moved up the ladder.

Settled on top 10 of Hovland and Xander. And getting in on an exemption Theegala for top 20.
Very tough, competitive event to choose players from.

As of Thursday night, the odds are now Rory -600
I sure would have hated being in that bet with Scottie -300
Scottie now at +400

Early congrats on a good win. Very nice birdie at 17, and safely on the fairway at 18.
If I'm reading it right, Henley doesn't make the cut.
