How would you grade this Merc

    I would grade it "someone trying to make it look better than it is" based on those "pictures"

    Nice looking dimes although I don't think their value would have merited any reason for submission

    They all look a little soft/blurry, like some sort of filter or special effect was used on the images. I would expect the coin to look different in hand.

    They are all the same dime. I didn't use a filter on the pictures. It was an older camera, my Cannon T3 Rebel with a macro lens. This was one of my favorite coins. If they look soft, you can blame me, I am the photograpgher and photo editor. I always found slabbed Merc hard to get good pictures of. It helps to have a full frame camera.

    Make sure you have enough light and the subject is in focus. You shouldn't have to edit photos after you take them other than maybe some cropping.
    Nice dime, but we didn't even have a chance with the original images.

    The provided pics don't make the coin look anything like a 7FB.

    For his next thread, he's going to photograph a coin in a dark closet and ask us to grade it.

    FWIW, I grade the coin MS64+ FB from the selection of photos provided. The significant contact marks on the lower reverse preclude a grade of MS65 in my eyes, but it looks like it has exceptional luster. The provided photos are good enough to show contact marks that are distracting enough to preclude a grade of MS67.

    Personally, I would not touch a common date Merc graded MS67 unless I was sure it was worthy of the grade assigned. Most of the pricetag is contingent upon the coin actually making the stated grade.

    Oh come on. My first thought was 67FB so it can be at least somewhat assessed off this images
