“I love the smell of Napalm in the morning.”

It was sad to read this morning that actor Robert Duvall has died. Undoubtedly one of the best actors of my generation he played many varied roles and influenced our culture. I always imagined him as one of the people I’d like to meet if given the chance.

Maybe his single movie line that sticks with me: “Money is a poor way for a man to measure his wealth.”

RIP Robert Duvall.

Maywood.

Danny McGavin: Hey you know, if you just cut me half as much slack as you do the rest of those assholes, I might just owe you one.

    He made it to 95.

I'd gladly take that right now, unless I was 95. LOL

Iconic Boo Radley said nothing, yet the image portrayed by the character spoke volumes and helped launch Duvall’s career.

RIP. His career reminded me of the late Gene Hackman. Could play just about any role with believibility. Let's not forget the writers who supplied these memorable lines that furthered the actors careers.

Perhaps my favorite scene with Duvall was his final scene in The Natural. The scene in which he explains his job to Roy Hobbs.

Very well written, but a lot of actors would have overplayed that scene. Duvall portrayed it I think just as the writers wanted it, as a sports writer just doing his job. Simply wishing to pen an interesting narrative and a good story to the public.

@perkdog, to paraphrase Scout, "You can touch 'em, he wouldn't let you if he was awake." Classic in every sense.

"Miss Jean Louise, Mr. Arthur Radley."

With that simple line, Gregory Peck, an iconic figure in his own right, introduced most of us to Robert Duvall.
