Does this coin look harshly cleaned

I've been reviewing New Zealand Silver coins and they seem to be largely cleaned - harshly cleaned at that. But I can't really tell. I definitely see hairlines on something like this, all moving in the same direction.

    That one does look a little “scrubby” to me.

    I’ve seen worse- but I’ve definitely seen better.

    Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

    Yes, I would avoid it.

    the question is, are the hairlines on the planchet or made after the coin was minted. The clue is supposed to be if the lines carry over the from the fields to the design elements, then that is indicative of polishing. If not, it is a planchet property. I can't always tell.

    I’m not really a good judge, either, but that one larger hairline in front of George’s face looks like PMD to me.

    Cleaned maybe, but this is what I think of when I think of "harsh"...

    I agree, but it seems that NZer collectors tolerate polishing coins, and a great deal of the most detailed strikes suffer fine polishing.

    Hard to tell from those pictures.
    If it has been cleaned, the cleaning was light and not very harsh.

    we are talking about the one on the top? How would you explain the hairlines?
