Any chance these crazy colors could be deemed "market acceptable" at our host?

Bought this last night at the coin club meeting - first one I have ever owned.

Thanks.

I expect the coin will grade, but I don't see the value proposition since those colors aren't crazy and I doubt would command anything more than a minimal premium, if any.

I don't see it as crazy, and don't think PCGS will care either way.

The fingerprint above LIBERTY is bothersome to me.

It should straight grade (unless some grader is exceptionally picky). I don’t think it’s worth the grading fee as the slabbed premium is unlikely to match the 30 or so dollars that grading would cost.

Not wild or crazy…but rather modest toning. I think it could straight grade.

    Perfectly acceptable tarnish.

Those are not even mildly problematic. There was a deal on ebay who destroyed hundreds of Uruguay 1969 Bronze FOA coins, artificially toning them to wild coloration's, to get a few of them through the grading system and slabbed, and then sell them at a huge mark up. For a coin that is quite beautiful and a small mintage, it was painful to see so many of them destroyed.

Here they are with normal toning

I think your coin has very nice eye appeal & would straight grade. But, if it were me, I wouldn’t bother to have it graded (just a value/cost proposition).

  • Thanks for all the opinions. I had no plan to submit a coin of such low overall value but was wondering about, and received, other perceptions. I appreciate it!
