It will be interesting to see how long the hype lasts for the various releases before the price collapse, with coins available from the bank going for hundreds of dollars for a few rolls on EBay. This may be the mint intention in not having subscriptions available for the quarters or half and having fairly low limits on availability. It really is more difficult to get what you are looking for out of circulation unless you are lucky or your bank likes you.
Again, there are NO 2026 Lincoln cents being released into circulation.
Even so, it's nothing more than a cynical, obnoxious money grab. A poor man's version of the privy coin auctions.
As far as I'm concerned, they can keep them. The circulating Lincoln cent series ended in 2025.
This is just 190K base metal NCLT. You and your customers should enjoy.
They will be never be rare. Desirable is obviously in the eye of the beholder.
I have better things to do with $124.50 than buy $6 worth of change from the Mint. I know I am not alone. I'm a little surprised that the guy who couldn't flip his 5 2025 silver proof sets fast enough thinks these are going to have secondary market value when they are being issued at $124.50, and when it is now clear that Lincoln cents are not going anywhere.
That point is tangential to mine. The argument for these being flippable is based on what's in them.
Do you think I bought the 2025 silver sets for long term appreciation? I bought them to flip and I flipped them. So, again, you are off on a tangent. I'm not sure why you'd even bring that up. I made $300 in 24 hours flipping them. That was the whole reason I bought them.
I'm not going to be setting aside 2026 Mint sets either. I don't think anyone should buy from the Mint for long term appreciation. I've never said otherwise. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy the 2026 Mint or Proof sets for long term appreciation. Even if they hold their value, they won't increase their value (IMHO). That doesn't mean they aren't good for a flip or, possibly, worth the price if you want the Lincolns.
Right. I guess my point was that you recognized the possibility of the price crashing based on fresh inventory hitting the market. So you took a small shot and got out as fast as you could.
And I'm, just surprised you see the opportunity with this. Last year's was released at $33.25, before people knew for sure cent production would be stopped, and before people knew for sure that it would be continued for the annual sets.
So people who missed out at $33.25 chased them. These might be a flip at $124.50, but that's far from certain, given the price, given the fact that it's pretty clear the Mint is trying to milk a market, and given that no year is going to be the last year for the time being. 190K P and D zinc cents at basically $50 each is not a tiny mintage and no bargain.
So I'm just surprised that the guy who recognized the hot potato that was the 2025 silver proof set sees a flip in $124.50 uncirculated sets that have a higher mintage and no silver in them. You very well might turn out to be right. Doesn't mean I can't be surprised, or that my observation is a "tangent," given we are talking overpriced current edition Mint sets.
Last year there were over half a BILLION circulation strikes available. I'm not sure why everyone argues every point except the one that matters: there are only 190,000 (allegedly) business strikes available this year for the Lincoln cents. No rolls. No bags. And it is also a dual date one year type.
Might the flip fall to materialize? Sure. But if i net $150, I'm ecstatic if not? Meh. I didn't order 1000 of them.

But collectors are going to end up paying $75 or more for the Lincoln, I think.
I wouldn't be surprised. The 1996-W Roosevelt dime is a NCLT mint set issue, there were nearly a million and a half made and they're selling for $10 and up right now. I bet there are more people who collect Lincoln cents than Roosevelt dimes and the 2026 Lincoln mintage is about 12% of the 1996 Roosevelt mintage.
Also look at the 2017 enhanced uncirculated Lincoln. 210,000 minted. Not even a circulation strike, but it sells for about the same price as the whole 2017 set, $20 to $25 raw
With the SemiQ coins and a quick sellout, I think it will be flippable (obviously, lol)

You wrote it, brother. I simply pointed out that the Lincoln cents are not available except in the Mint set and you got all bent. Now, maybe you meant everything but the Cent - although you didn't say it - but I hardly see why my topical response (given the thread) is anything but on topic.
