    FRIDAY'S VIEWS

    In this series of videos accompanied by music watch as North America's tallest mountain, Mt. McKinley rises above the slow moving glacier ice-filled ocean waters of Anchorage Alaska's Cook Inlet.

    Continue to watch as the stunning snow-covered volcanic mountains of the Alaska Range, to include Active Volcano Mt. Spurr, are featured.

    The videos span from Mt. McKinley all the way to Point Woronzof located at the end of the runway of Anchorage's International Airport. Of historical note, Point Woronzof was named by the British during the Vancouver Expedition that preceded Russia's acquiring Alaska. Count Woronzof was the then beloved Russian Ambassador to Britain. Captain Vancouver had visited these same waters two decades earlier when he sailed as a seaman aboard Captain Cook's ship on Cook's final voyage.

    As to the Volcano Mount Spurr that isfeatured prominently in these videos, it has been in the news over the past year as being likely to erupt again. Located some 80 miles distant from Anchorage it is rarely seen as clearly as it is seen in these videos. In addition due to a bending of light waves created by atmospheric temperature conditions, Mt Spurr and its sister volcanos of the Alaska Range are magnified mirage-like on the day these videos were taken.

    The video playlist concludes with two videos of the above described scenes at sunset as the glowing sky silhouettes the mountains framing Cook Inlet. The second to last is another music video and the final video offers a panoramic view.
