Very happy for Sam Darnold. He got ripped last year after leading the Vikings to 14 wins.

most insane stat i've seen so far is Maye throwing for almost 300 yards

it felt like he had 15 going into the 4th quarter

I know. I said the same thing. it really is not indicative as to how he/the team played though. it was garbage time in the 4th quarter when the defense was basically playing prevent to let the clock run. same thing happened last year when Mahomes put up some great numbers in the 4th quarter while siriani was getting doused with gatorade during garbage time.

without those 2 garbage 4th quarters, we may have seen the 2 worst stat lines for a QB in the SB in history in the last 2 games!

I think Maye actually set the record for 4th quarter yards in a SB. junk stats though...

The one thing that is still baffling me and pissing me off is Josh McDaniels failed big time, he cannot or just refuses to shake up. the game plan until It's too late, I think he is too stubborn to realize his plan isn't working and adjust.

I blame McDaniel, the OL and Maye

    In that order

It was a rather brutal loss for the Patriots and leaves me convinced that they were in the game solely by the method of NFL scheduling. I think this upcoming season will clarify that when New England plays a more difficult 1st place schedule. The same will happen for several other teams.

I also believe that New England was able to over achieve because of their Head Coach. Vrabel lifted them up.

Quite a remarkable turn-around for the Pats after the past couple seasons. Solid core and young talent on that team. If I'm Kraft I want to run it back.

Strike that. If I'm Kraft I want to set myself on fire... but I think the Pats are a couple pieces away from being the team to beat.

They definitely benefitted from an easy schedule, there is no denying that

The warming signs were there during the playoffs,, the Chargers are a joke, then they face Houston where had Stroud not had literally the worst performance ever I doubt they were winning that game, then they face Denver without Bo Nix and get a small lead before white out conditions

I stated thinking the Pats would be ok after initially thinking Seattle by 10 so I ended up being wrong.

Seattle was the better team, they could play 10 times and I think Seattle would win 9 times

i think one important nugget that everyone, including yours truly, needs to take into consideration is that Maye's throwing shoulder was in bad shape. he received a pain-killing injection right before the game. kinda explains how a guy who was one vote away from being league MVP all of a sudden had a difficult time making the easiest of throws.

and one other thought. if the Rams had employed a punt returner who knew how to catch a football, Matt Stafford would have two rings instead of one.

That unguided missile he threw to a wide open receiver tells me the injection worked just fine, again Maye was third in my pecking order of blame

i know Seattle softened up in the fourth, but the way New England attacked them is what they should have been doing all game long. come out firing, take shots down the field and try to loosen the Seahawks up and make a statement from the jump. instead it was vanilla dinking & dunking, stuck in the 60s type of play calling that led to no points and practically no yards. coming out with a game plan like that and making zero adjustments until it was too late on the biggest stage is a fireable offense imo.

as for Maye, idk what was going on exactly, but his shoulder had to have played a role. i watched him a few times this season and i didn't recognize the guy throwing the ball for 3 quarters last night. he looked like CJ Stroud out there. but then he morphed into the QB i was familiar with when the outcome was all but determined. who the hell knows.

funny how teams look completely inept for an extended period of time, but the moment they act like they're on fire they start clicking on all cylinders. you see it all the time. if more teams incorporated the 2-min drill for 60, they'd score more points and win more games.

Seattle’s punter. Dickson. If the Pats weren’t already miserable enough, that guy kept on pinning them back on their on goal line. Shoulda been MVP.

This is why I blame McDaniel above everyone else

As far as Maye goes he didn't really go up against many top tier D's until the playoffs and he looked the opposite of an MVP candidate.

BUT he took a record amount of sacks during this playoff run so his OL failed him big time

I think Drake Maye needs to get some lessons from Tom Brady on how to release the ball much faster and just get rid of it .
I could see sacks happening before they happened . I was yelling at the TV, get rid of it get rid of it. lol

Unless theres actual structural damage, which there wasnt, you dont feel a thing on those shots.

I honestly dont play Maye at all. He had that one bad pick but it was kind of over at that point. He was getting hit all the time, they had no running game, there were a few drops, they couldnt even make room for him to scramble most of the time. They didnt even make adjustments at half time until the 4th quarter when every one knew they had to start airing it out to get back in it.

I don’t have much to say about the game as the Seattle D dominated, but I just don’t understand why people who don’t want to watch the halftime show get roasted for it. I’m not talking here on this forum, but an example is Brett Favre saying he wasn’t familiar with bad bunny’s music and would be watching an alternate halftime show. He got his tail feathers skewered and he didn’t even say anything bad about bad bunny. An article on yahoo was even titled something like…… Brett Favre’s ridiculous comments on bad bunny’s halftime show!
The world is getting weirder all the time. Personally I took a shower at halftime, grabbed a piece of pumpkin pie, slathered a gluttonous amount of cool whip on it and when I got back to the tv luckily the second half was about to start.
I think the nfl is catering way too much to foreign markets and are forgetting its core audience that built their empire. I want George Straight singing my halftime show and I’m not about to apologize for it.

Apple paid $50M for the half time show. They chose Bad Bunny to sell his music on whatever platform they own. Money has always talked in the NFL. Remember it’s just a business. Goodells face looking up in the crowd during the halftime show is all you need to see. Barely anyone dancing and half the crowd went for beers. I watched part of it and the beat was good but I rarely watch all of any halftime as I’m busy making wings or food. The only show I watched entirely was Prince.
Interesting 2dueces fact. I attended Super Bowl 25 and Back Street Boys were the halftime show. I was 45, had no idea and went for food and Pepsi.
But I witnessed the greatest singing of the National Anthem ever by Whitney Houston. Gave me chills to this day remembering it. Dueces out until August.

Probably was Toradal, cortiisone is more of a long term thing and is supposed to be limited to how many times you can take it a year

Hes probably not the only player that got one of those either/ He just gets the attention for it being a star QB

I just heard that it turns out that Will Campbell actually tore a ligament back in december when he missed 4 games.

perhaps that can explain why he was such a turnstile during the post season. the backup LT, Lowe, is really really bad when Vrabel would rather put a rookie out there with a torn knee ligament than him to protect Maye's blindside.

He was hiding an injury from the media. If he can get his knee back he should be fine.

Pats certainly didnt do him any favors letting the defense not have to worry about anything downfield for half the game

It's easy for Vrabel to say that even though he really can't be making that promise, if they can score another tackle in the draft I'd be willing to bet he could be moved to guard if they can find a stud

If he gets moved to guard thats a really bad sign and his knee is really messed up. He was am All American stud at LSU and there should be some top guards available for their first two picks. I dont think the LTs that you would actually want will still be there by the Pats pick
