goodness I hate this period in the sports year calender. no baseball. basketball is still in the nearly meaningless regular season. I dont care about college sports. i really dont care about the olympics.

guess i am stuck watching replays of the 6 super bowl victories.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Definately a flat time of year, the NBA break is a joke it's like they just folded the league lol

MLB is a ways away as well

Olympics and CBB are something I'm Just not interested in

Golf and Nascar keeps me going. Masters golf soon. No NBA interest until the finals. Pretty much same with baseball, except for opening day. Adding Triple Crown in horse racing.

College basketball is alright. They at least try during the regular season for March madness rankings.

We do unfortunately have to wait for March for the WBC.

I'm a big fan of college baseball but they dont really put it on tv this early and a lot of the games even for baseball you kinda know whats going to happen

I'll stick with McCarthy and a veteran back up.

Vikings are $48M over the cap and will be trying to restructure several contracts to get below the cap.

They cannot afford a $20M plus starting QB. Who would be dumb enough to spend that kind of money on a guy who is hurt all the time? They already have a QB with injury concerns!

Vikings need to figure out who is going to play center and a bigger concern is if Darrisaw can come back from his knee injury. Left tackle is one of the most important positions in the pass happy NFL.

Wentz might be back, but I would be interested in Mariota.

I like the Winter Olympics except for figure skating. Speed skating is great… I was watching women’s curling last night between US and Denmark they had a good match going, didn’t stay up to see who won and I’m still tired at work today. 🥱

I actually think most of those can be broken and will be eventually especially now with the extra game. Were seeing 30 year olds as head coaches now. teams are throwing the ball more etc. I think the two least likely are the INTs (even though a few guys got close) teams just stop throwing your way if you get picks like that. Tomlinsons will be hard too with how much QBs run and throw inside the 5 now

Coaching wins I didn't think of, the extra game is another thing I didn't think of

I will say that they throw more but QB's rarely have 300 yards passing games now

  • bgrbgr Posts: 4,065 ✭✭✭✭✭

Hard to get 300 yards when you start around the 40 on average drives now.

I blame the lack of passing uards a lot on college at the moment. Currently a lot of the big programs which obviously feed the NFL are valuing athleticism more than pocket passing. The NFL is doing it too which is why you see guys like Anthony Richardson get drafted 3rd overall. Guys like Peyton and Rivers would probably be overlooked at both levels with the current mindset

I do think that mindset will change in the next few years and start putting more emphasis on passing and not looking like a body builder that can run. I hope so anyways.

Right now its a cheat code for OCs and really the coaching staff if your scheme or Oline sucks. Theres just too many guys at both levels that have arm strength but arent good passers. Scouts need to stop relying on combine numbers they can use to justify their decision from a guy in shorts and a tshirt and get back to game tape

how many of you knew that the Dolphins are the best org to play for

then we have the Bengals.......so cheap that they allow their QB to get dismembered, force their fans to sit in snow, serve their players slop to eat, and don't give a crap about family members

i'd rather go to the hole for 10 years than play for Cincinnati

    Speaking of Cincinnati

I heard Chad Johnson or Ochocinco say that his rookie year he stayed at the Bengals facility full time, like he lived there

That's what he claims and obviously that was years ago but curious if that was even allowed or true

I believe it was his first two years of his career. Probably frowned upon at the time, but he was the 36th overall pick. Coaches sleep in their office sometimes. Probably why he ate so much McDonalds, cheap and the cafeteria wasnt open. Check out the top college locker rooms now like LSU where their seats are designed to be turned into beds if they want too.

i think Kyler is about to be your next QB. and i think it has a chance to flourish. here me out. no one knows this dude better than i do. i've been a fan of his since his days at Allen HS, where he didn't lose a single game. he then went to OU and won the Heisman. then to the Cardinals where he underachieved mightily. a lot of that is on him. he has acted like a supreme douchebag many times over. i question his leadership. i question his mobility after shredding his ACL. but, make no mistake, his first 7 years were with one of the worst organizations in all of pro sports. who the f adds a clause to a 1/4 billion dollar contract that says you can't play video games and mandates film study? only an amateur hour franchise like Arizona. Minnesota is not Arizona. this could be a great fit. dude hardly played last year........he's going to be as fresh as a daisy next season. he's only 28. when healthy, he's extremely elusive. he has a great arm. he's very accurate. he doesn't turn the ball over often. he's upgrading teams and he's upgrading coaches; whether you like O'Connell or not, he's a sound offensive mind and dare i say a QB whisperer. look at what happened with Darnold. is it out of the realm of possibility that Kyler can be his next successful reclamation project? also consider this: the Vikes would be acquiring him for the vet mininum. the idiot Cardinals are going to be footing the bill for his monstrosity of a salary next season. in my opinion, hell yeah you take that chance. he is an upgrade over McCarthy. Murray-Jefferson-Addison-Hockenson has the potential of being very nasty, especially under the tutelage of O'Connell.

i think it's going to happen soon

    The rumors are plentiful here.

I am not a fan of running quarterbacks. They usually get hurt, and then their careers are usually over. If Kyler is healthy, he might need his running abilities unless the Vikings can pass block. Their new center, Ryan Kelly just retired because of concussions. Left tackle Darrisaw has not come back from a serious knee injury two years ago.

I'm sure the guy did great in college, so did McCarthy.

If Murray comes here for little money and flourishes, GREAT.

I was encouraged by JJ's improvement the last 5 games. He's been hurt a lot though.

Vikings just cut their two starting defensive tackes from last year. That's also a concern.
