Olympic award medals- defectively minted in 2024 and now again in 2026
Olympic award medals have surpassed $100K at auction and there is a worldwide collectors market for them.
In 2024 many Olympic medals fast “ corroded “ with their plating wearing off before the Olympics concluded.
Now, in 2026, there are numerous current news reports indicating the bulky heavy medals are separating from the inadequate suspension loops on the top edge, causing them to drop to the ground or cement and doubtless incurring rim damage. Moreover, some recipients are discarding the separated ribbons after the medals drop off.
One wonders if the European mfgrs of the medals in 2024 are the same bunglers in 2026. What a shame for both the Olympic medal recipients and the collector aftermarket..

Haven't cared about the Olympics since 1976.
The 2024 one wasn't necessarily defective, the one guy who complained publicly may have partied too hard with his medal.
Llamas and alpacas are camels. They aren't like camels, or related. They are camels. When was anyone going to tell me this?! How long had Bill Nye been holding out on us?
