Missing or Possibly Stolen Coin

I recently, in December, I sold a nice 1935s MS64 Washington Quarter to a buyer in Texas. After searching and getting no where by both myself and the buyer, the USPS has decided it is a lost item. Even though I had insured the coin I wanted to alert the media as it were that should this coin show up anywhere it should be considered a stolen item. It is PCGS number 43174565. I don't know if PCGS has any kind of stolen coin registry or device but I will look into that on Monday.
If you see her, I'd appreciate a shout out!

Most unfortunate. I'm guessing it's in your registry. With PCGS certifying 970 in that grade it would be difficult to find, if cracked out and sent to another TPG. Did insurance cover the loss?

If you haven't done so already drop the cert number in a registry set here and also at CAC and NGC (if they both allow PCGS coins in their registries) so that you will get a notification if someone attempts to register the coin in their own set. Good luck.

Yes, both the CAC and NGC registries allow the inclusion of coins in PCGS holders, as does the MyCollect registry, as implied above by my friend @alaura22.

It’s in my registry. I added it just in case someone else tries to add it to theirs.

that is a good approach ... however If you wish to have PCGS do something on their end you need to file a police report with the information and then send a copy to PCGS to have then flag the coin on their end. That is what I was told on a lost item years ago ... however, since I had a full refund from Stacks in within a matter of weeks, I asked Stacks to take action, however, they did not. PGCS did not flag it. I then listed the coin in my name to flag it if it showed up.

@retirednow is 100% correct - right down to the police report required by PCGS. I had a coin stolen over 10 years ago that’s never turned up. I still carry it in my registry. I reported it to Doug Davis, all the TPG’s, dealers, other collectors, etc.
What hasn’t been mentioned is the obvious - a thief could (should?) crack the coin out so the ID# becomes irrelevant. So many coins look alike or very similar. Mine was/is fairly unique:

I had about 20K of coins stolen and it was reported and some even showed up on auctions but never did I get any support in recovering any of them. I learned something very important about the business then.
