Vienna, VA Show Report

Got to spend around an hour and a half with my daughter at the Vienna, VA coin show today. What a great time we had. This is a show we never miss as it’s 15 minutes from my house and Very convenient for us. Generally, I know what to expect at this show…..very friendly local dealers, sometimes with some cool stuff, a couple of “national” dealers local enough to come to Northern VA, and generally some pretty decent US material. I haven’t had a ton of success sourcing quality dark side stuff at this particular show but I also have only been buying world coins for a little over a year now (US pretty much most of my life).
Walked into the door around 12:15 and straight to Angel Dee’s table. They are my daughters’ favorite dealers and are amazing about making her feel like they’re always awaiting her arrival. Just good people. Andy and Arlynn had purchased this at FUN and I snapped it up as soon as I got it under my loupe. I don’t love this TV tbh but it’s a fantastic 58 in hand and obviously a munch tougher 3CN date.

(Daughter walked away with a wholesome 1891 IHC that was this shows gift from Angel Dee’s)
Next door to Angel Dee’s were Rob and Robbie from the Reeded Edge. Worked a deal with Robbie to upgraded the Mercury dime slot in my 7070. I don’t know if this will be my “forever” Merc in the 7070 set but it’s nicer than the one I had and didn’t cost me much after trading Robbie the 37S in PC65FB that I had and never really loved. Toning isn’t as terminal as it appears in areas the TV as there’s still nice iridescence in those areas, but it’s definitely darker than I normally collect.
MS 67+ FB (CAC)
These 2 alone would’ve normally made for a terrific Vienna show for me, and then I stepped over to another’ dealers table who I’ve viewed coins from before but never done business with.
These 2 smacked me in the face so I bought them. Sorry about the crummy pics….

Had a great time hitting the bourse with my daughter, saying hello to some dealers I’m friendly with, and scanning cases for a bit after that. Combination of nothing else jumping out at me and the fact that I had spent more than I’d anticipated already meant it was time to get ready for my kids hoops game this afternoon.
Great show and an awesome time! Thanks very much to the Fairfax Coin Club, who always do a great job putting it on.

Nice additions... How were the parking and attendance?
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Thanks! Attendance was pretty strong while I was there. I had to wait my turn at all 3 tables where did business.
Considering that, the parking situation was really good for Vienna…..or maybe I just got lucky. I drive an F150 and with the snow banks I was prepared to have a cold march for some distance parking spot, but we basically rolled right up to the door.
Nice pickups. Sounds like you had a great time with your daughter.
Nice report! I've always liked doing business with Andy / Angel Dee’s.
Sounds like you had a great show, and got to spend quality time with your daughter, a win-win! Nice pickups!
Thanks for the interesting report! Sounds like a great time was had by all!!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I've always enjoyed going to the Vienna, VA show and today was no exception. Their was a line to get in and the bourse was crowded from the get go. I was able to sell a couple of coins at fair prices, so that made me happy. Looked at a couple of raw Trade Dollars, but didn't pull the trigger on any.
Parking is always an issue at this show and today the number of spaces were more limited than usual due to unremoved "snowcrete" in the parking lot. I got lucky and found a space, however.
Overall, a good show!

Nice report and coins! I’m jealous—I never could get my daughter interested in the hobby.
I used to be a regular here and haven't been on for quite a while. I was at the Vienna Coin Show this weekend when Andy of Angel Dees suggested that I take a look at your post. Glad that I did. First, you should know that you are one of Angel Dees favorite customers at the Show ( well, it is your daughter that puts you over the top as their most favorite, but that should make you so proud). The Vienna Coin Show was the first show that Andy and Alynne ever attended, back in 1994, and they have been stalwarts ever since, and major supporters of their local show. That is a 30+ year run.
I am also glad to hear your positivity because I am a founder of the Fairfax Coin Club that runs the show, and also the Show Director. Attendance records were set, and the excitement was high. Many of our legacy dealers attended, but there were also several dealers attending for the very first time. Same for visitor attendance, many folks were first time registrants to the show. Both, healthy signs for the hobby. Thank you for coming and glad that you enjoyed it.
P.S. - Sounds like you might have missed it this show, but during the next show on April 18-19, please come to the YN meeting on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. It is a great meeting with a fun educational program followed by an auction. We had over 30 YNs attend this YN meeting, a raucous crowd and another attendance record set. A record that I am the most proud of.
Thanks so much for your post/reply @Ronyahski.
Indeed it does make me very proud!
I was talking to a few of the Fairfax Coin Club guys on Saturday about making sure we get enrolled. The ONLY reason we aren’t already members is the meeting times are extremely tough for me/us. But that’s really no excuse. I grabbed 2 sign up forms at the show and am looking forward to participating whenever we can.
Thanks so much again for the very kind and thoughtful reply. We had a fantastic time on Saturday (always do), so thank you as well for all of your efforts with the club and the excellent Vienna shows.

Andy is one of the best dealers I've ever dealt with.
