YouTube shut down the link I posted for some reason. Other people are still streaming it on youtube though. The highlights are all over the place too.

Sumo is the national sport of Japan. I've never watched this stuff before. It is interesting. They fight once a day for 15 days in a row. I think there are 6 tournaments a year.

I don't know why but I am oddly compelled to click on Cardlink's post every time there is a new entry.

Aonishiki (8-2) after 10 days. 5 guys are at 8-2. Nobody has a better record.

On day 15, Aonishiki wins with a record of 12-3. Defeating Atamifuji in a tie breaker.

I believe that is 2 tournaments in a row for Aonishiki.

The really astonishing thing about this is that he is a Ukrainian. I am surprised that Sumo (Japanese) wrestling would allow it since they are a very pure culture and Sumo is pretty close to Shintoism. After baseball worship in Japan Sumo is a close 2nd.

I believe that there have been many races involved in sumo for a long time. There were a good number of non Japanese wrestlers in this tournament. There were 2 Ukrainians. The other Ukrainian did pretty well too.

I also believe that not as many people are becoming sumo wrestlers as in decades past. I think the younger generation may be more in to baseball. I wonder how difficult it is to get in to sumo later in life. I hear they start training around age 15. Aonishiki is 21. I don't know if you can just show up and enter.
