They are from the 1975 mint set. There are also the Halves and Dollars.

Collectors love completeness. Cool novelty.
Stupid.
Fun

No reason it can’t be both 🧐

Fun or Stupid? 🤔
Can't they at least be both?
The slabs guarantee the provenance of the coins, that they were minted in 1975. I can see the attraction to many collectors.
They are in no way any worse than SEs from congratulations sets slabbed as such, and similar things, which seem to have a market.
I’m a sucker, I have a few.
A hobby is suppose to be fun! When you think it becomes stupid, then maybe it's time to change hobbies! I think those are cool and fun!

Of all the wrong fun, that's the most wrong.

Fun if cheap. A bit of mint history commemorated.
I like the uncirculated roll that I own of Eisenhower bicentennial 1776-1976 40% silver dollars and several graded uncirculated 40% bicentennial quarters. With the 250th Anniversary this year I think they are special.
