1981 D Roosevelt is missing W make it a Mint error

    I would say no, that it is very likely just due to grease filling part of the die in that area.

    edit: and there are no obverse or reverse varieties for 1981-D Roosevelt dimes, so that DDR/DDO you think you see is simply mechanical (aka strike) doubling.

    that's how I store them , then into a Slab holder for dimes and keep playing cards between them , lol, keep the lid on and years later this one still looks like it weathered the storm pretty good , No Ebay for me for years, but that was where it started lol,

    I don't know if it's grease or some other reason, but dimes from the 80's are often weak in that area and the last number in the date. They also had some issues with the rim striking up properly.

    Later in life they probably won't be a teacher but a Doctor :o did you ever wonder why medical charts are going paperless ;)
