1942 Penny - What's with the WE?

Hello, I am going through 1942 US Pennies and I am noticing that the "E" in "WE" seems a bit lower than the "W" in some of them. Does anyone have an explanation for this? Thank you!!
In the picture the right coin seems to have a lower "E".

Did you try comparing it to coins of other years? It is normal for the Lincoln Cents of that era.

Here's a picture of a normal IN GOD WE TRUST on a 1922-D Cent, from my book (see avatar to left.) Don't know why the "W" was high on the obverse hub that made Lincoln cent dies for many years, but it was.
