Cent Lament
I was recently asked to teach a group of Cub Scouts about coin collecting. I had thought about getting them some blue cent folders and a few rolls of cents to go through and fill holes. The bank doesn't have rolls of cents any longer! I guess I should have figured that out for myself in advance, but it never occurred to me. It's sad. After generations of kids stuffing holes in folders with cents, it'll soon be no more. I guess I'll go with nickels instead, but it just doesn't seem the same.
I still have my cent folders from 60 years ago and wouldn't get rid of those crummy circulated cents for anything.
Along this line, a big shout out to the Treasure Coast Coin Club of Florida. They had a coin show last weekend in Vero Beach Florida and every kid through the door got a free cent folder and they had two big tubs of cents for the kids to go through to fill holes. Hopefully they inspired a lot of kids to begin a lifetime of coin collecting.

Actually, I think nickels are a better way to go. You can pretty much find a full set in circulation all the way back to 1938

It took me about 50 years but I finally found a 1950D in VF from circulation.
I agree. It's really the only set before 1964 you can complete from circulation now. I'm only missing two from my box hunts
Dimes are a good backup, even the eagle reverse quarters since the last one was struck nearly 30 years ago
