I had a card collecting buddy that I'd known since grade school, and his mother grew up on the same street as Darold Knowles, went to the same church, was in the same class all through school, etc.

So my friend had this extensive Darold Knowles collection of cards, autographs, team photos, signed balls, the flip down sunglasses, even a game used ball glove from Darold Knowles. Haha! Who gives a crap, we'd always tell him.

Sadly, my friend was killed in an car accident when we were in high school. All these years later, admittedly, I rarely think of him. But show me a Darold Knowles card, and I can't help but to...

I don’t think I ever realized how many guys had air brushed photos in75. And how many were so horribly done. Was the set released late and the artists just had no time to do better or was it just a 70s Topps attitude of not caring? So odd.

  • I think the 1975 Topps set is probably my favorite from the 70s. It's nice to see somebody build the set.

Why are you covering up the cert # on a $17 PSA 8 Rico Petrocelli? Nobody is stealing that card for the registry or faking flips.

    You never know.

I have an ongoing issue with PSA at the moment where a 1981 Topps PSA 10 common that I purchased roughly 10 years ago for maybe $15 has sold twice on ebay in the past year for $200-$250.

How? I don't know. I still own the card.

I received a request to remove the item from my registry, which I denied twice. I sent dated pictures of my card as proof, unfortunately, to an @noreply email address that the PSA email request came from (I didn't notice at the time. PSA asked for pics and I attached them, and hit send), and since they did not receive my pics in a timely fashion, according to them, they released my card's certification number to the fraudsters. PSA then took punitive action against my 1981 Topps registry set by removing, or retiring, or who knows what with it.

My set is no longer visible on the registry and I can not add new cards to my set. I've since emailed dated pics of the card that I still own to what I think is a valid email, and played phone tag with Cosetta, and can't get any answers. I only make new attempts every now and then, as I have too many other positive things going on in my life to get too tangled up in the ridiculousness of the whole thing, and I figure I'll get it resolved eventually. I mean, I still ACTUALLY OWN 95% percent of the set. They can't take that away from me... lol. But it's nearing a 9 month ordeal, as it stands.

I collect what I like, for fun. I don't mind sharing pics of my collection. I will no longer post new pics with a visible certification number, and now you know why. Lol

I mean, I'm definitely P.O. about the individual certification number being stolen, and all that entails, but the most egregious thing, is that PSA then took action against my set itself. It's been removed from the registry and I can't interact with it at all. So the last thing I need is for someone to steal my 1975 Rico Pettocelli certification number, causing my entire 1975 set to then be penalized.

(... yeah, I don't understand any of it, either, and can't get answers...)

  • That is insane. Sorry PSA is treating you like this.
