United States Mint Begins Shipping 2026 Semiquincentennial Circulating Coins
The US Mint put out a press release yesterday announcing that they have begun shipping the 2026 Semiquincentennial Circulating Coins.
"WASHINGTON, Jan. 14, 2026 — The United States Mint (Mint) began shipping 2026 Semiquincentennial Circulating Coins, including the dime, half dollar, and the first of five quarter dollars, on January 5. In celebration of the Nation’s Semiquincentennial, for one year only, the United States Mint is redesigning most of our circulating coins. Authorized by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 and signed into law on January 13, 2021, by President Donald J. Trump, these coins commemorate 250 years of American Liberty, reflecting our country’s founding principles and honoring our Nation’s history."
It apparently lists the three coins being released first:
The Emerging Liberty Dime obverse (heads) design features a determined Liberty as the winds of revolution waft through her hair. With steadfast resolve, she faces the tyranny of the British monarchy.
The Mayflower Compact Quarter obverse features two Pilgrims embracing as they behold the New World. The Pilgrims did not arrive at their intended destination; therefore, they did not hold a charter to establish a colony at Plymouth.
The Enduring Liberty Half Dollar obverse design shows a close-up view of the Statue of Liberty, her steadfast gaze looking outward as if toward the future.

Is there really a circulating half dollar as mentioned by the mint notice?

The dime has too many highly visible designer initials as well a a poorly placed mint mark.

Very little interest in most modern coinage but will be buying this dime in silver if produced. One of the best original designs in a very long time.

I think the dime had real potential, but it looks like someone spilled a can of alphabet soup on the design.

I stopped by the two local banks and asked if they could get some of these new semiquincentennial coins brought in. I was nicely and politely told Nope, not happening. I'm surprised the Mint isn't taking the opportunity to sell rolls of dimes for $25 a roll or something ridiculous.

The early production shows they might be striking these coins to lower numbers than last year. However, the numbers are only updated once a month so the next update might have a better outlook.

My guess is that they'll strike more than last year due to the dual date & design changes.

I like the dime. They could of put the mintmark and designer's initials could be in a less conspicuous area. It would have been nice to have a golden dollar too.

I’ve been lucky enough to find a decent amount of dime and nickel rolls at my bank. They also had about 4 quarter rolls I was able to snag.

Got the Emerging Liberty dime in change this week in central NJ. I like the design better than Roosevelt on it and wish they would keep it going forward vs one year only.
