2026 Lincoln cents

So they will be produced in the Uncirculated Mint sets. The sets are limited to 190,000 per the Mint website this year. Subscriptions are now unavailable. Did the Mint just create a new key date for the Lincoln series? Of course the survival rate will be 100% but a 190k mintage looks incredibly low. Thoughts?

Likely an early hype and prices will come down in the future.

I just sold a clad 25 proof set for almost $300. I sold a raw 25S proof cent for almost $200. I typically throw proof cents into my change jar- which I in fact had, but dumped the bucket and fished it out to put in my cent album, and resold the one from my album.
There is no way these prices will stick IMO. I will happily sell my subscription 2026 cents at same rate, wouldn't think twice.
The proof 2019 W cents had a low mintage and are key dates. They seem to sell well. Not sure about the 2026's. If the mint decides to make a Lincoln cent commemorative coin or whatever they could be hot then not...
Low mintage with 99 percent survival rate is a good point. The 2019 Enhanced Reverse Proof Eagle enjoyed a lot of exuberance at first but has since backed down in price..
So get in and get out would be a good play. I think it's called "flipping"

Don't forget that in addition to Mint Sets, the 2026 cents will also likely be sold in "collectable" rolls and bags from the US Mint. So even though mintages will still be relatively low, it's unlikely we'll see sub-09S-VDB numbers. Even with the hooplah I'd expect totals in the low 7-digit range. But I guess we'll see...

I personally think the 2009 Mint Sets are undervalued because they have the [P] and D mint Lincoln Cents (all four types of each), that are solid bronze rather than the copper-plated zinc composition of the coins released into circulation.
And the 2009 Mint Sets also have the 2009 [P] and D nickels which are difficult to find in circulation.
They didn't. They stopped making it for commerce. It's the same situation as the Kennedy Halves.

I agree. Somehow I missed the fact that these were bronze. I only noticed that about a year ago, and when I found out I bought a set.
I wish they would go back to bronze for all the NIFC cents from 2026 onward. I much prefer that to the plated zinc.

Sorry I thought the US Mint typically sold bags and/or rolls of current dated coins. Is that only for certain denominations?
According to the front-page article in the December 29th Coin World magazine -
The Lincoln Cent, which was removed from the circulating coinage lineup in November, will appear in 2026 ONLY in Uncirculated Mint sets and Proof set options.
Yep....you can only buy quarters, halves, & dollars by the roll.
I went to change my subscription to 5 each awhile back on the uncirculated mint set and the proof mint set. It would only allow two for each subscription.
Well, not exactly the same situation as Kennedy halves. Kennedy halves are still being produced for circulation when commerce demands require it (as has been the case in recent years). On the other hand, the call to no longer produce the penny for circulation was a big announcement that ultimately led to the Omega pieces and the ‘last pennies’ auction—a culmination of events unprecedented in the history of the Mint. Hopefully the Mint would consider that before churning out rolls and bags of circulation quality Lincoln cents in 2026.

The only time I remember the mint selling Lincoln cents by the roll was in 2009 for the four different cents produced that year. I don't ever remember the Mint selling bags of cents. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
yes, 2009 and also 2010 for the shield's first year
those were rolls and no bags or boxes were made
no cents, nickels or dimes will be sold separately in 2026
That's too bad , I was kinda hoping for the dime !
