Rarely seen toned 1921-D. I bought this coin that was stored in an envelope for decades. Id say its AU/CU.

I have one last commemorative I want to post, but I think its toning sort of clashes with the toning of others I posted. So here, in a separate post, is an Iowa, graded MS68:

Beautiful Iowa. Here's one that I just submitted to PCGS for grading. I'm hoping for AU58 but it will probably grade in the 60s.

Here's my MS64 Gettysburg. I collect circulated commems so I was hoping for AU+. Missed it by 5 grades, which explains the high price I paid for it. I thought I had screwed myself until I saw how PCGS graded it. Learning to distinguish AU58 from MS coins has been an education, but in this case, the "school of numismatics" pays my tuition.

No mistake with this Lincoln though. It graded AU53.

Gem Proof Franklin half dollars with rainbow colors are very hard to find. Here's one, a 1963 graded PCGS proof 65.

The Dinosaur Man asked about my rainbow toned Franklin above: "where is the slab?" Sorry, I don't have access to any pictures of this coin in the slab. I'm almost certain I don't have a True View picture.

In case Dinosaur Man was also wondering from whom I acquired this coin, the answer is the late great Bryan Sonnier.

That's cool! I'm not a huge fan of slabs anyhow. I was mostly curious because based on those photos, I imagine that coin would come back "questionable color" from PCGS on a bad day.

Well, I suppose it's fortunate for me that PCGS did not have a bad day. Here's another example of where I "lucked out" with PCGS on a rainbow toned Franklin half dollar (pictured with slab):
