This is a list of people who have done something that not many have never done..
Henry Aaron
Miguel Cabrera
Willie Mays
Eddie Murray
Rafael Palmeiro
Albert Pujols
Alex Rodriguez
There are 7 all-time. And most of these guys are not heavily sought after cards. Mike Trout is more heavily sought after than about 4 of these guys and he will never come close to their accomplishments. Not close at all.
Work hard and you will succeed!!

This is a list. 🙄
At least 3-4 PEDs....perhaps why.
3,000 - 500
Alas, they are not Pokémon.
Only 2 have majority of their cards produced before the junk wax era.
A couple of guys used PED’s
Murray was a good player - but never Mr Popularity with the press.
A lot of factors go into having a valuable card with your name on it. All were great players in their day though - some just more fondly remembered after their playing days than others.
mays aaron and who else?
its interesting how people view mahomes vs marino or bradshaw or staubach.
1) roughing the passer rules. mahomes can't be touched. the others got clocked all the time, could hit them low too-no such thing as sliding rules
2) pass interference rules - defense could impact the receiver beyond 5 yards as long as the ball wasn't in the air. in 1997 the rule was changed to only the first 5 yards
3) targeting/hitting a defensiveless receiver - this did not exist when the other 3 played. for mahomes it does.
all these factors greatly change the way a qb plays now vs then. however, the card collectors don't seem to care. the rules changes greatly help mahomes and in my opinion take away from his numbers, same with brady. can't touch either one. if they had the same rules, they would not have been as good.
these rules changes, in my opinion, make a far greater impact on the abilities of today's qb. but no one cares, sits downs and has long conversations about mahomes and brady having advantages over staubach. and nor should they. people base their collecting on how they played at the time.
if you feel ped's made a huge difference and made players much better than other players or past players, you should feel exactly the same as comparing dan marino vs patrick mahomes.

I HATE double-negatives!!!!!
This is what you said, actually means:
This is a list of people who have done something that many have done..
I think you actually meant the following:
This is a list of people who have done something that few have ever done..
Then to make it worse, you didn't even specify what the seven players have done that is so special.
Steve
Or we could just compare apples to oranges.
my english was incorrect. i sincerely apologize to the board for hurting your feelings. but there are lots of posts not addressing the question/comment.
Mike Trout is a fraud and people should stop paying ridiculous prices for his cards.
.

The department of redundancy department.
Eddie Murray collectibles are undervalued imo.

Murray has become a somewhat forgotton HOFer, it won't change and he's not the only one. Is what it is.

He played on a lot of great Orioles teams in the late 70's and early 80's. I dont understand how you can forget such a high profile player.

For every Ripken, Griffey Jr, Ryan there are 10s of HOFs that aren't. More to it than stats and teams played on. It is what it is & what it is, is fickle.

yeah 0nly 7 in people in history - hard to believe they aren't the mt rushmore's of collecting.
Collecting does not need a Mt Rushmore when it is already Niagara Falls.
I think a lot has to do with his policy of never talking to the press while an active player. There just weren't that many stories about the guy, his personality, etc... He let the playing do the talking for good or bad.
Wrong thread oops

It's an impressive feat and list of players, but how many fans even know about it? If you asked average fan to name the seven players in the 3,000 hit, 500 HR club, not many would get all seven correct. In order for it to be a Mt Rushmore type of list, then everyone would already know it like it was an instinctual trait.
It also doesn't help that the top iconic hitters in history are not on the list...Ruth, Williams, Cobb, Wagner, Gehrig, Musial, Mantle. Those guys all better hitters than the people on the list...and their excluision doesn't make the list more impressive...but rather shows that it might not mean as much as you are giving it since clearly better hitters aren't on the list and everyone knows they are better.
Mays, Aaron, Pujols....pretty big names there. Arguably top 5 -10 players. You could probably argue Mays in the top 3 all time.

Yeh, you are correct and those three are up there for sure overall(Mays and Aaron for sure). I was generalizing the club overall. None in the same hitting class as Ruth, Williams, Cobb, Gehrig, and Musial...and the 3,000 - 500 is just a pure hitting stat so Mays's fielding isn't in the equation.
The 3,000 - 500 club is neat, but without the top two hitters ever in the club, it looses its luster as it shows it really isn't a true measuring stick of the greatest hitters. In the end, it is just a club of many clubs that can be created.
For instance, why stop at 3,000 and 500. Wouldn't 3,000, 500, and 2,000 runs scored be an even more impressive club?
That would leave Mays and Arod as the only members.
Or 3,000 hits, 500 HR, and 200 SB. Then you have Mays, Aaaron, and Arod.
Or 3,000 hits, 500 HR, 2,000 runs scored, and 2,000 RBI? Just Aaron and Arod.
Or if for simplicity, 600 HR and 3,000 hits.
You can go on and on and for all sorts of mixes for counting stats only.
Then have even more fun adding percentages in.
Typically in the past the 500 HR and/or 3000 hit club gets you in the Hall of fame. That's why these numbers are used. But the two you picked pointed out just how good AROD was. Elite. One of the top 10 players of all-time,
AAron, Mays, Ruth, Gehrig, Williams, Musial, Rose, Cobb, AROD, Pujols
Close or maybe in the top 10 - Griffey Jr,, Clemente, Henderson.
Arod has been public and visible. Maybe that will help him clear that suspected PED hurdle that is holding him back. Otherwise Arod is elite any way you slice it.
Williams would be on the 3,000/500 list if not for his military service. Musial would be awful close.

Absolutely. I think people realize things such as that and that Ruth is a better hitter than anyone on that list, that there are hundreds of list/clubs one can make, and thus it doesn't carry the weight in the collecting world that the OP is asking why.
I think all those guys all already get recognition for getting 3,000 hits or 500 HR. It just has not made any extra impact that they happened to have both those achievements, otherwise the OP wouldn't be asking why.
The only reason why Ruth isnt on the list is because he was mainly a pitcher his first 4 or 5 years.

Absolutely, correct....again, hence why the list has not resonated with very many people. I remember Murray joining that list and at the time, it was only him, Mays, and Aaron....and even when it was that exclusive it didn't resonate anything special for Murray's cards, other than what people already knew about him. It didn't give any extra juice. Still doesn't. Still won't in the future.
Jim Thome is in one of the most exclusive and simple clubs...the 600 HR club. Nobody cares. His cards are in the junk era, but still nobody NEEDS a Thome....and that club is special too.
Gehrig would have as well if he was not stricken w/disease. The what if's in Baseball are many, we can only look at what actually occurred

How many players in history have 700 HR, 2,000 RBI's, 3,000 hits, 600 doubles?
Answer - two. Henry Aaron and Albert Pujols.
How many players have the above... PLUS... 2 World Series Championships and 3 MVP awards? Hint - Hank Aaron only had one of each.
Answer - one in the entire history of the game. Albert Pujols.
He is also the ONLY player in history to start his career with a .300+ average, 30+ HR, and 100+ RBI's for his first two seasons. Oh, and by the way, he went on to continue to do that for his first 10 seasons. Nobody has been close to that. And if it weren't for his 99 RBI's in 2011, we would be saying he did it his first 11 seasons. And if it weren't for his 99 runs scored in 2007, we would be able to add RUNS SCORED to that stacked list of stats for his first 11 seasons. I hope you guys took the time to read and chew on what I just said.
Sure, some on here may say that I am cherry picking, but look at how huge those cherries are! I have been on this board since 2003, and I have been consistent the entire time, even while Pujols was in the beginning of his career. I watched his career from beginning to end, even when he was with the Angles and Dodgers. He is the best hitter I've ever seen.
= = =
PS - I'll add this for good measure. In his first 11 season, he walked more than he struck out in 10 of those seasons, by a big margin. The only season he did not do that was his rookie year in his first 11 seasons. In 2006, he hit 49 HR and stuck out 50 times! That is ridiculous!
Sorry. Just saying that he needs his due!
