New Years Resolutions: What are your collecting goals for 2026?

I haven't asked this one in a few years.
For me, it is to continue building my 1971 OPC baseball set. I started it in 2022 and now need exactly 100 cards. (I started 2025 needing 139 so it is a slow process).
Other than that, I would like to acquire 1973 and 1974 Topps baseball sets to complete my '70's run of sets.

Sell some older graded slabs and replace with newer graded slabs.

Just re-holder the old slabs…into modern, new slabs.

It goes beyoind the old slab itself. I have 6-8 cards that I prefer to sell and replace with newer graded ones.

I yearn for clarity. I’d love to get some stuff graded, but heaven only knows where. I’ll keep chasing and continue the quest for excellent finds.

Day 1 buy a Pokémon card. Day 2 Start a Pokémon grading company and sell it to collectors. Grading starts at -3.00 and mine goes to eleven without a sticker (I’ll pay 2.00 if you want one). My guarantee is I’m the best or you can just pay me the difference. Y’all don’t even want to know what my specials are!! I’ll sell my company now before I start if interested let me know. You have 48 hrs! Day 3 take over psa. Ohh and also raise prices yada yada. Evil plan ahahahahaha aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa hahahahahaha ha ha ha. But seriously 48 hrs.
SOLD to my new best friend. Sorry guys I joined the dark side! Up up and away

Picked up this first "card" of Ozzie Guillen recently. The 1981 Venezuelan League Sticker set is tough to find even in mid grade and has the first cards of Ozzie Guillen, Andres Galaraga and Orel Hershiser. Also has three different 2nd year cards of Ryne Sandberg (first for him is the 1980 TCMA Reading Phillies). As I have the Galaraga and now the Guillen, one goal for me is to land a 1981 Hershiser. Tough thing about this is there are only 4 graded Hershisers to date by PSA (1 each in PSA 4, 3, 1.5 and 1); 3 by SGC (high is 1.5); and none by Beckett so tough to be choosey.

The same annual goal as last year of finding affordable upgrades to my PSA registry sets.

Good luck with that! I’ve been able to find about three raw 1971 cards I would call mint in about 25 years.

    1. Finish my 1933 Goudey Cubs set (need one more)
    2. Add some more T206 Cubs and Naps to my collection. Add more pre-war cards in general.
    3. Attend the Strongsville/Independence, OH show in April
    4. Continue to grade vintage with SGC...until they completely morph into PSA.

Complete my PSA 9 Dick Pole set (1974-1978 plus his famous minor league Beaver card).

I originally posted this under a different topic -

I plan to pull back from modern sports box rips. I'll always pick up something that is a great deal but as the Fanatics monopoly starts to take hold on new product, I just see continued gouging of the collector base. Rubin and Co have a lot of debt, partners, and investors to feed. That is where we come in.....

The most noble goal I've ever read on this forum.

It's the singer not the song - Peter Townshend (1972)
Not even a minute do I buy the whole buh buh buh I'm a man-child japery - Me (2025)

Come on now! You don’t want to over shine Mr.Pole with Old Rusty.

  • Add a pre-war centerpiece, then add some raw T206's portraits.

One goal is to totally exit COMC.
I put all my cards at 95% off during Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
20 cards haven't sold. $.05 were even to much for those. LOL
Most all that sold went to resellers who listed them at prices I couldn't sell them at or more. I wish them luck.
Now to get my money out.

My other goal is to complete my Ron Cey Master Registry Set.
I'm 1 card away, but there are still several major card issues that are missing from the master list that need to be added.
After my battles with PSA, I've become less motivated to add some of the oddball card issues.
My bucket list, childhood dream is near complete.
Then I'm going to stop collecting.....until I start up again. LOL
