Besides the traditional Die Pairs #1, #2, #3 and #4 recognized by ANACS, where I worked from 1978 to 1984 and was Senior Authenticator for the last two years, I have added eleven new Die Pair Varieties. I have also revealed a previously unknown "No D" die state of Die Pair #4, and resurrected the long-known "No D, Worn Reverse" die states of Die Pairs #1 and #3.
I have also identified the earlier Die Pairing of the obverse of the "1922 No D, Strong Reverse" Die Pair #2, when it still had a "Faint D" showing. Mated with a different, more worn reverse die than the Strong Reverse of Die Pair #2, it is now listed as Die Pair #5.
I also present a radical new theory on why the Obverse die that first became part of Die Pair #5 and later Die Pair #2, and also several other obverse dies, were ground down at the Denver Mint, This theory is based upon extensive research into previously unstudied U.S. Mint archives. The process used to make these dies apparently was never used by the United States Mint before 1922, or after.

With my book on the cents of 1922, you can see that it is missing the diagnostic feathered out 9 in the date and feathered out R in LIBERTY, as well as other missing diagnostics.

How did you like it?
Still reading it but amazing how many misconceptions you had to work through to get to your more reasoned conclusions. There is a lot of detail here but it must have been frustrating that your FOIA requests for mint records were ignored.
As someone who has never collected Lincoln cents, I nevertheless appreciate your scholarship into a puzzling issue that has confounded collectors for so long. Extra credit for all the great illustrations.
