Question about the 2026 normal uncirculated Silver Eagles.

CaptHenwayCaptHenway Posts: 33,748 ✭✭✭✭✭

Somebody asked me about the date format on the 2026 silver eagles, and I have not been following the modern stuff..

I know that the Proofs will have the dual date, 1776-2026, but can anybody please confirm the dating on the normal Uncirculated Silver Eagles. I assume just 2026. Is that correct?

Thx.

Found these in the Mint Image Library................

Notice the use of the word 'enhanced.'

    Thanks. What does “Enhanced” mean?

That appears to be the 'enhanced" reverse proof.

I believe the Mint uses the adjective 'enhanced' in their description because of the use of laser engraved dies in the Minting process.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

No, the enhanced reverse proof looks like this:

Enchanted would seem to refer to the use of varying degrees of laser polish on the devices to create the two tone look on the same design element.

    Release date 4-21.
    Current Product says ENHANCED UNCIRCULATED.

    .
When you click on Subscriptions.......ENHANCED is gone.

    .
    .
Any other info about this release? Are these just normal Unc. Silver Eagles or an Enhanced version?

"normal" unc. ASE`s are not sold by the mint - only by dealers. Probably just a typo - you could call to verify tho. I would be curious enough to wonder if it could be the Burnished - with a "W" mintmark as there is no release date thus far for that particular coin. OK - I called and the sales rep said it was the Burnished version.

The subscription is for an an annual promise of an uncirculated ase. This year's offering is an enhanced version that is covered by the uncirculated subscription "product". That's why the coin and the sub seem to differ in naming. It's like a magazine subscription having a big Christmas issue thats delivered for the December mailing.
The Morgan and peace uncirculated subscriptions also have an enhanced coin this year and the website treats them the same as the ase.

Actually, no. If it was a different product, it would have a different product number, and would NOT be covered by a subscription to a different, but closely related product.

The "EG" in "26EG" refers to the annual uncirculated ASE, with the W mint mark. Not burnished. Not proof. Not enhanced uncirculated.

Those are different finishes, and would have different product identifiers. The burnished is sometimes interchangeable with uncirculated, but uncirculated and enhanced uncirculated are very different things.

Most likely it is just a typo, but all will be revealed in time.

If you click on the EU ASE item and then click on subscription it does let you subscribe. It looks as though they are treating it as the regular uncirculated/burnished ASE, as they show the next shipment date as April 21, which is correct for the EU.

Alright I gave it a try. I signed up for the enhanced subscription (hopefully).

I figure I can cancel as the date approaches if it's not what was expected.
