1975 Orion Socks Johnny Bench - newly graded

Last month, I picked this up at the annual Moeller High School card show in Cincinnati, OH. It's extremely scarce and not listed in any guide that I know of. There is also John Havlicek sticker that was produced. I didn't bother sending it to PSA for grading since it is not listed in a guide. However, I was very surprised to see that SGC had graded one of these before (an SGC 2). I just got the results for mine after sending it to SGC and it graded a 5 which I am very happy with.

Very nice! I have been trying to get PSA to grade mine with no luck. I guess it is off to SGC. Thanks for sharing!

Very welcome. There are few other cards that SGC will grade for the Bench collection that PSA will not including the 1968-70 Shillito's and the 1970's Home Plate Restaurant postcard.

That is a great card! I hope we can start adding SGC cards to the registry soon. I imagine that has to be something on the table for 2025?

Great item. This kind of thing is usually so under-appreciated because most people have no idea they even exist, let alone how hard it would be to find one if you learned and then wanted one

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

Thanks again for the suggestion! My grades just popped. Attaching the Havlicek I sent in with it. Also got the McCarthy postcard and Home Plate Restaurant postcard graded as well. Five days from receipt to shipped, very excited!

Also, thank you for the RC Iron On. All arrived perfectly as always. Appreciate all you do for other collectors!

    I have a SGC 2 (Bench) and a SGC 5 (Havlicek).

I understand the place the Bench card holds with Bench collectors, but have no idea of the Havlicek card and it's place with Havlicek collectors, any thoughts?

it surprises me how low of a collectible Hondo's cards are. One of the highest scoring players of all-time and won many championships. He is all-time great, one of the top 20 players I have ever seen. I think the sticker looks great.

But overall there doesn't appear to be very much interest in basketball cards unless you are Kobe Or Michael. Even Magic and Bird and WIlt pale in comparison. Makes no sense.

Work hard and you will succeed!!
